Billy's Wife Angry Over 'Speculative' Report

8/7/2009 7:00 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Billy May's Billy Mays' widow is "extremely disappointed" with the Hillsborough County medical examiner's office -- accusing them of sending out a "speculative" report that's damaging her husband's image.

Moments ago, Deborah Mays released the following statement:

"We are extremely disappointed by the press release released by the Hillsborough County medical examiner's office. We believe it contains speculative conclusions that are frankly unnecessary and tend to obscure the conclusion that Billy suffered from chronic, untreated hypertension, which only demonstrates how important it is to regularly monitor one's health.

Given the hectic nature and pace of Billy's life, especially during the past 10 months of his exhaustive travel across the country, it was not surprising to hear that hypertension was the cause of his death. We were totally unaware of any non prescription drug usage and are actively considering an independent evaluation of the autopsy results."

"As those who were close to Billy knew, he had been in chronic pain for more than two years and was about to have his third hip surgery in 18 months. His use of prescription pain medication for his hip condition was guided by his physician and was at recommended usage levels. This has been a very difficult period for our family and we appreciate the respect for our privacy that Billy's many clients, fans and members of the media have extended. We appreciate your continued thoughts and prayers for the family and will not have any immediate comment beyond this statement."

If this man was getting ready to have his third hip surgery in 18 months, how is it he had UNTREATED hypertension? No reputable surgeon would take a person with untreated hypertension into surgery. He had to have had multiple examinations prior to the scheduling of the surgery. How is it the hypertension was overlooked? No reputable doctor would prescribe all those prescription meds to be taken by one person, ESPECIALLY one with hypertension. Trust me, I have a chronic pain condition and TREATED hypertension, and I can't even take non-prescription meds! I can't imagine my doctor prescribing Xanax, Valium, Vicodin, etc to be taken within the same time period.

I think someone is in serious denial.

Oh dear Lord. That guy was a walking commercial for high blood-pressure. He gave ME high blood-pressure watching him. But that's not even what the coroner said he died from. Anyway, regardless of whether he used "non-prescription" drugs, he had WAY too many prescription drugs in him. I'd say either another enabling doctor, or doctor-shopping.

Wife is in denial. Chronic untreated hypertension, and he's doing blow. Please... that was a heart attack waiting to happen at his age. The medical examiner is just doing his job. The facts are the facts!!!

Let's go slow... what was the quantity of any of the compounds listed? If anyone of us (non-user types) had a toxicology taken, you'd be surprised what it would reveal. Just because your toxicology comes back with 'baking soda' listed (from the Croissant you ate), does it mean you had cocaine instead? FYI, baking soda is the common cutting agent for cocaine. The man admittedly was on pain-killers due to his bad hip - which was to be operated on the day after his death. How many women can spell 'vicodin' once a month... how many men can say 'Sildenafil' (viagra) every week?

BIG NOTE: Benzoylecgonine (the determined residue from cocaine) is used as the main pharmaceutical ingredient in the prescripition drug Esterom, a topical solution used for the relief of muscle pain. "HE HAD HIP & LEG PAIN"... DON'T JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS!!!

FOR ALL OF YOU SMART AS_ES POSTING ON THIS STRING... I hope you're not big fans of Michael Jackson... when his toxicology report comes out, Billy Mays will be known as 'Saint Billy Mays'. Look at what the person at comment #52 said and 'Get a Life'.

The wife is embarrassed. She knows if WE KNOW that Billy used cocaine...that she uses it too. So these findings are not good for her image ( or their kids) and probably this will STOP any insurance payments as they ALL have drug clauses.

If his wife starts digging, I am sure she will find a lot more things that he did not share with her. Ignorance can be bliss.
