Billy's Wife Angry Over 'Speculative' Report

8/7/2009 7:00 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Billy May's Billy Mays' widow is "extremely disappointed" with the Hillsborough County medical examiner's office -- accusing them of sending out a "speculative" report that's damaging her husband's image.

Moments ago, Deborah Mays released the following statement:

"We are extremely disappointed by the press release released by the Hillsborough County medical examiner's office. We believe it contains speculative conclusions that are frankly unnecessary and tend to obscure the conclusion that Billy suffered from chronic, untreated hypertension, which only demonstrates how important it is to regularly monitor one's health.

Given the hectic nature and pace of Billy's life, especially during the past 10 months of his exhaustive travel across the country, it was not surprising to hear that hypertension was the cause of his death. We were totally unaware of any non prescription drug usage and are actively considering an independent evaluation of the autopsy results."

"As those who were close to Billy knew, he had been in chronic pain for more than two years and was about to have his third hip surgery in 18 months. His use of prescription pain medication for his hip condition was guided by his physician and was at recommended usage levels. This has been a very difficult period for our family and we appreciate the respect for our privacy that Billy's many clients, fans and members of the media have extended. We appreciate your continued thoughts and prayers for the family and will not have any immediate comment beyond this statement."

I guess if my spouse died and was a coke head I would want it kept private.

I understand that some prescription drugs come back as cocaine but, no way should he have ever had this many drugs in his system!

So what if he was on drugs? How does that make him a bad person? He didn't drink and drive. He didn't go on a killing spree. You're all such hypocrites. How many of you are drink alcohol? Smoke pot?

He was an infomercial spokesperson. He wasn't a surgeon or an airline pilot. (BTW, doctors definitely should be regularly drug tested. It would be interesting to know how many doctors are drugged up. Would you want your doctor to be high, although it would explain a lot of malpractice.)

I love it, you doctors who post here and say what kinds of medication that he could be prescribed, and in what quantities. You don't know! Doctors do treat pain, at least some still do. My husband is prescribed oxycontin, actiq pops (fentanyl), vicodin, xanax and ambien, to name a few. He has rheumatoid arthritis and is in a lot of pain, as well as having blood clotting issues. So, people do get these medications prescribed to them. And, the coroner did not state that they found COCAINE in the results, just something that is a byproduct of cocaine when it breaks down. FYI this substance occurs in other ways as well. If he did cocaine, they'd find cocaine.

That is sad... He used cocaine to help his career, now only short lived, he can't live longer to enjoy his million of $$$.

You know billy was a great salesman. However his work was exsausting. Thats the key word. So why wouldnt he do a little white poder to keep going ? That may explain why he was so LOUD. wHEN HE SPOKE ON TV. If the corner says there was Cocaine in his system Im sure they were right. And if his wife can't deal with that then she needs to. You know no matter how long you know someone you never really know everything they do. Specially when they travel for a living.........

Sorry for your loss Mrs Mayes.. However face the fact that your husband could have been doing a little something you didnt know about .
