Who's to Blame in Jackson's Death?

8/25/2009 10:27 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Michael JacksonWe've been telling you for weeks Propofol killed Michael Jackson and authorities had their sights set on Dr. Conrad Murray. The affidavit to the Houston search warrant makes it clear -- Dr. Murray fueled Jackson with multiple drugs before he stopped breathing and Propofol was the crowning blow.

So the questions -- did Dr. Murray come clean when he spoke with the LAPD or is it even worse than we thought? Why was he on the phone for 47 minutes after Jackson stopped breathing? Why did he wait so long to call 911? Why did he refuse to pronounce Jackson dead at UCLA? Why did Dr. Murray disappear for a day?

And the bigger question -- is Dr. Murray the patsy -- taking the heat for years of prescription abuse at the hands of various doctors?

What do you think?

Regarding the poll my answers varied. I don't think what Dr. Murray did killed Michael Jackson. I think years of prescription drug abuse did that job and what Murray did tipped the scales. I think Dr. Murray should be prosecuted but to what extent is questionable. I don't think he should be made the scapegoat for years and years of prescription abuse by Michael Jackson with the aid of other doctors, these very doctors need to be brought to justice as well and I think even more so than doctor Murray. He was with Jackson for six weeks and according to what I heard and read he was trying to ween MJ off of propofol, he didn't cause Michael to use it. Michael was already using and for years. The fault with the doctor lies in his knowledge that, that drug is only supposed to be used in a medical facility (really an OR) and in his haste not to make his patient angry with him and to possibly be fired, he over medicated Michael. Dr. Murray let a withdrawing and sleepless Michael override his own professional opinion for the sake of keeping Michael as a patient and the outcome is Michael won't be needing any doctors anymore.

If that jury had done it's duty and not accepted putting the victim on trial instead of the perpetrator , MJ would be alive today. Of course, he'd be in jail with a sore butt courtesy of his new-found friends in the Aryan Brotherhood.

He was on the phone for 47 minutes (or whatever) because he was getting advice as to what to do to get MJJ breathing again--inject his heart? CPR? And getting a lawyer lined up, etc. I do believe this guy is something of a fall guy--he certainly didn't mean to kill MJJ, but he acted negligently and, instead of calling an Olsen twin, he should have called 911, even if MJJ wasn't breathing. EMTs might have been able to resuscitate MJJ without brain damage if they could have gotten there within seven minutes or so. Tragic. Many doctors and pharmacies need to be held accountable (even though, yes, MJJ bears some responsibility. Still he didn't put this nail in his own coffin).

Everyone knew if you comfronted Michael about his drug use he would "Cut" you out of his life. That is why his own Mother would not even try to help him, she did not want Michael to cut off the checks he sent to support her. They should have had him committed, but where to afraid of losing MJ's support to do it. Instead here we are and he is dead. The family is out there screaming that everyone is to blame for his death, and claim they had no idea he was an addict? Oh please just turn on your T.V. and watch. The whole world knew he had a problem. I hope Jermaine and his family sleep well at night, considering what a nice slice of the "pie" they are now making off MJ I have no doubt this sick sick family sleeps very well at night in their million dollar homes. Thanks MJ we are loving life, and as usuall we don't even have to get a job to enjoy this life. Thanks Bro, Son.

mj made alot of enemies at sony with tha music catalog stuff.....i think he wa helped along to the afterlife.half a billion dollars and they had to put up with mikes craziness.must have really pissed them off.i think he was set up....yes he was adruggie but very smart and stubborn ...owning the beatles stuff was a great business move .spoke out about the enslavement of black artists by white music executives.he even owned little richard music of which he promply turned around and gave back to richard but would not give paul mccartney any more money ..this guy made a whole lot of enemies.....who were rich and had means to do bad stuff......FOLLOW THE MONEY ..he wa a druggie but this stuff was set in motion before that terrible day in june.....

also as far as him being a junkie ,does any one really think it is so simple that someone would wake up one day and say I THINK I AM GONNA THROW IT ALL AWAY AND BECOME A JUNKIE>>...the same mind that gave us all tha beautiful music was the same mind that tortured him every day

While I would have to agree Jackson was an addict and is partly responsible, the doctor(s) all should have known better and should have tried to stop him, rather than let him continue (which i realize is easier said than done... but they're doctors. have some professionalism).

as for Murray, while yes one could argue that ANY of jacksons doctors could have ended up as "the one", and Murray just had bad timing the facts still seem to show that he made too many mistakes on that final day and had he of done things properly Jackson may still be with us today.

So is Murray all to blame? No. Was Jackson partially responsible for his death? Absolutely. Should the doctor(s) have *done their job* and could they have prevented this from happening? Without a question, or a shadow of a doubt, yes.

Both Jackson and his doctors are responsible for his death. He was addicted and they were his suppliers. It always takes two to tango. This is not one-sided,so the docs should not be entirely blamed.

the tip of the ice berg? i think not! let us take a long look back. what about health ledger, anna nicole-smith, elvis presley, judy garland, marilyn monroe (suicide, perhaps not!) it is like the war on drugs, almost impossible to fight, a doctor canot read these people's minds. how do they know what other doctors they see and what pills sit in their medicine cabinets? the only thing that will save these people, patients and doctors alike, is a good conscience! i love michael's music and am sad he is gone but so the story goes

that weirdo is responsible for his death!

That is not what "fall guy" means. What you write doesn't relate to the concept of a "fall guy". But no, Tohme was not a "fall guy" because he was the one that undertook the procedure and then made phonecalls to everyone but 911.

Michael and all the doctors are to blame, not just Dr.Murray. Nobody FORCED Michael to take those drugs, it was his choice!

And I don't understand he did all that with 3 young children in the house...........Children who were HIS responsability!
Nobody says anything about that!

Who cares about Michael Jackson?!
Who cares about who or what killed him?!
The freak is dead...remember his music if you are so inclined but for god sakes stop talking about him as though he were the next messiah!!! He abused little boys!!!!!

Like all of the attorneys are saying , MJ could not administer these drugs himself. A doctor has a responsibility to do no harm.

Even if you put those facts aside, this fool did not call for help and immediately started covering his tracks by lying to the police.
