Jackson Time of Death a Mystery

8/26/2009 5:22 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

MIchael JacksonLaw enforcement sources tell TMZ the L.A. County Coroner cannot pinpoint the time of Michael Jackson's death ... but paramedics say when they arrived they believed he was dead for at least an hour and maybe longer.

Dr. Conrad Murray
's statement to LAPD detectives lays out a timeline in which Dr. Murray administered Propofol at 10:40 AM and then ten minutes later (10:50) he walked out of the room, went to the bathroom and returned two minutes later (10:52) to find Jackson was not breathing. He did not have anyone call 911 until 12:21 PM ... approximately an hour-and-a-half later.

Sources say cops are suspicious of Dr. Murray's account. They say when Dr. Murray was interviewed by them two days after Jackson died -- his lawyer by his side -- the doctor's account seemed "scripted."

So when did Jackson really die? Rigor mortis typically doesn't set in for at least 3 hours, and often longer. If rigor mortis has not set in, the only way to approximate time of death is by body temperature. Once a person dies, their temperature eventually rises or falls to the temperature of the environment. For example, if Jackson were in a 70 degree room, his body temp would drop to 70. The body temperature typically drops a degree to a degree and a half per hour, but it's dependent on the ambient temperature.

Here's the problem -- when paramedics arrived the room was sweltering. So Jackson's body temperature could register in the 90 degree range, even if he were dead for a long time. But we're told paramedics did not get a read on his body temp because they were busy performing CPR.

Bottom line -- it's possible Jackson could have been dead much longer than Dr. Murray said. There's no scientific way of knowing.

I don't know about the body temperature theory, but some news reports have said that Michael was already dead when the EMTs arrived because lividity had already been observed. (

Lividity is the settling of blood to the body's lowest point. If a person dies lying on his back, the blood drains AWAY from the face and chest and settles NEAR the back of the body, like the back and buttocks.

Truth

As a nurse who has seen people after they have died,I think things are being distorted. I have been around when the coroner examines the body to see if there is fowl play. They measure the temperature of the body and look for signs of rigor mortis. The first area the becomes stiff is the neck area. After a certain amount of time the blood pools under the body. There are physiological signs that point to a time that the person died. Michael Jackson was pronounced dead at about 2:30 p.m. if the body had generalized rigor mortis they would know that he had died about 4 hours prior. Remember the coroners office is dealing with this in a very scientific manner. I am sure they already have an approximate time of death in mind. It will all come out soon. For all you conspiracy theorists.. Don't be ridiculous! Why would anyone murder him? All the people that were working for him are unemployed now! There was more money for them when he was alive!

If Conrand was serious about his work - i.e. patient care, he would have insisted on a qualified nurse to assist him ......or at least consult with another practitioner about treatment plan. Why neglect the patient this much just for money? Would you not get more money if he stays alive longer?

MJ's 'medically dangerous' requests were a sounding alarm for an obvious need for careful and frequent monitoring THROUGHOUT THE DAY even (and especially) during rehearsals. If Conrad was doing all of this alone, he must had been exhausted and sleep deprived by 10AM (supposedly) when MJ still could not fall asleep and requested propofol. Who was advocating for MJ here?

The only mystery is why Conrad Murray isn't already dodging shanks in prison right now.

@37...regarding the 3 calls Murray made, one report says he phoned a lawer, Arnold Klein, and a mystery associate. Another report says Michael Amir Williams, MJ's personal assistant was among those he phoned.

Dr. Murray sure covered his tracks well. He waited and hour and a half before calling paramedics; had them perform CPR, thereby diverting him from taking a body temperature, and even if they did, the room was so hot it would have rendered an inaccurate measurement.

Anyway, this article answers a bunch of questions I had re: time of death. I guess it will never be determined exactly.

MJ didn't keep the room hot---Murray turned up the heat in an attempt to keep the body warm until he figured out what the hell he was gonna do! It is seriously sad what happened, but MJ put himself in the position. But, ultimately Murray pulled the trigger so to speak. Twisted, and the hot room all the more freaky. So sad.

I think that it is irresponsible to report this in so much detail - you will compromise any investigation & then no-one may be bought to justice and the truth may never be known. However, I have feelings that AEG are involved in this somewhere, I do wonder if the Doc was researched by them beforehand and was set up - AEG have plenty to gain from this - it is awful to think that people would do something so awful to someonelse because of money but the sad fact is, is that it happens, but with love and respect to my idol & inspiration, I did not think that Michael would have done 5 concerts let alone 10 and as for 50 - who are you kidding! The Police and Coroners office have so far done a good job keep the investigation quiet - they are doing their job and getting on with it - the way it should be - We love miss you Michael & God Bless. We want to know the truth.

I too ? the involvment of AEG. They are suspect and their constant need to be involved in the estate matters beg many ?'s. MJ was going to die if he did not top the drug abuse, that seems pretty clear. 'Doctors' involved in his life should have helped him not enabled. $$$ is evil.

29. Then WHAY was the *totally* *bogus* paramedics "last known picture" of Wacko Jacko w/ an oxygen mask on his face and a neck brace around his neck?????????? Looks like the paramedics were in the SCAM, too. They would have taken ONE LOOK at this corpse MJ called a body and called him dead. How much did Murray *pay* them to FAKE like he was alive???

MJ also had his wig on---who put that on him? Murray wanted it to look like MJ was still being rescesitated when he was taken to ambulance...he was dr. in charge and EMT's took his orders, dead or not.

WHERE ARE THE CAMERAS THAT WERE WORKING AT HIS HOUSE? I CAN'T BELIEVE NO ONE COULD HEAR A THING SINCE HE WAS FEELING BAD.
WHAT ABOUT HIS KIDS? THEY DIDN'T LISTEN TO ANYTHING??????
DR CONRAD MURRAY TRIED TO RESSUCITATEMICHAEL IN SILENCE? WHEN HE FOUND HIS BODY WITHOUT A LIFE, HE DIDN'T SCREAM ANYTHING? IT'S OUR FIRST REACTION.
