Michael Jackson Burial Triples in Price

8/27/2009 3:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Michael JacksonThe Jackson family's decision to move Michael's burial from a Saturday to a Thursday is gonna cost some serious dough -- at least three times the original price!

According to the Glendale police, the cost for the weekend service would have ran about $50,000 -- 90% of which goes to police handling street closures, security and perimeter control.

But officials say the Jackson family will now have to fork over "at least triple the price" to contract the cops for a weekday burial.

As for the cemetery, we're told it will be on total lockdown -- with security patrolling from the ground and from the air. At least one police chopper will be keeping an eye from the sky.

And just to prove the cops mean business, Sergeant Tom Lorenz is warning uninvited fans, "Don't even try and come, because you won't even be able to see the green of the Forest Lawn."

We fans have to respect Michael and stay at home that day. Don't ruin his burial. This is a day for his family and not for fans and media.
I love Michael and miss him so much.

17. This is not the way MJ would have wanted it at all, it’s a shame to send that kind of messenger to his true fans of his that they’re not even allowed to see the grave? Obviously the person or persons who made this decision don’t give a **** about MJ´s true fans.

I agree, maybe they'll start caring when the fans quit spending their hard earned money on merchandise!

The Family could have saved all of their money by just burying Michael and not telling about it, til it was over.
They'll probably change their minds again, anyway.
Please just bury MJ!

Do you know how much business traffic there is in that area on a weekday? The rest of the world can't stop for MJ's burial. It could become very unsafe for emergency vehicles, etc.

That's been really obvious since day one hasn't it Justice, agreed.

The only time the family has mentioned MJ fans is in the same breath with an upcoming event involving a fans money (tickets).

Lest we forget, the family originally wanted to charge fans for the Memorial Event at Staples. Public backlash nixed that.

Certain members of the Jackson tribe are just simply greedy $$$ grubbers.

Loathsome creatures they are.

Don't fret Corina, a decent burial date for MJ has slipped past us by about 2 months now.

I don't think anyone should get too excited over an LA burial for MJ, he's probably going to be kept "on ice" a bit longer until the Jackson family can "plant" him in Las Vegas and watch their once human money tree grow. If they don't nobody'll be coming to their Thriller Casino/Wonderland.

You guys make a good point. I know the family needs to have time to themselves during this time, but they also have to understand that Michael would have wanted his fans to be able to say goodbye. I Don't feel that we have had the chance and dont think we ever will. It's such a shame that we did not get to see him and that we wont be able to visit him. I dont think that I will buy anymore Michael merchandise after this. I dont want that money ungry family to get anymore of my money. They (Katherine and everyone except Janet) want to do all this stuff to get our money, but they have no intention on giving us the chance to say goodbye to him or be close to him as many Elvis fans have over the years. I wish he had left all his money to his kids and nothing to that sorry excuse of a family.
