Oregon Ducker Punches Boise State Player

9/4/2009 9:15 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The most ferocious hit in last night's big college football match-up came right after the game -- when Oregon's starting running back socked a helmetless Boise State player right in the face ... hard!

Boise State won the game -- the Oregon player will probably win a big, fat suspension.

The meatheaded jock he punched seemed like he provoked it. Good for this guy, punch him again and wipe that smirk right off his face for a second time.

It looks like the guy who got punched shoved the other guy first. It looks like he may have been provoking the puncher. In that case, BOTH are wrong. But it's hard to tell just from that clip.

Anywhere else, he'd be arrested for assault but since its on the playing field nothing much will happen - except for the suspension - we'll see if he comes back to Oregon.

Not saying this is right---no way, but what did the player say to him? Did he provoke him? Just wondering. Yeah---the dude deserves serious jail time with a big fine to boot.

i live in oregon and have a son who played football and well aware
of the things that can be sais on the sidelines, but sportsmanship should take the lead. i so agree with #17 and #26. and to let you know my son went to marshfield and he does not agree with me. he thinks he should of walked away period. that is what his coach and team are sportsmanship. i agree but idaho so needs so much more than 1 or 2 games off. teach the littles fans words don't hurt.

I am a black female attorney who graduated from college and law school in Oregon.. Many years ago, Oregon was a racist place! After my good friend Mulugeta Seraw, an Ethiopian student, was beaten to death by skinheads there, I left. I wonder if its still like that there. I wonder if the black Oregon player's racist environment could have caused him to explode in rage when the white Boise player pushed him and said something offensive. Does anyone know what he said to him before he got punched?
The Boise player is guilty of assault for pushing the Oregon player and for unsportsmanlike behavior for taunting him. The Oregon player is guilty for punching him. They both need to go to anger management class. Has anyone ever considered that the Boise player purposely taunted him because he knew that the Oregon player had a temper problem and would explode and be either suspended or fired. I hope they both learn a lesson from this unfortunate incident.
To Jessica(#35):your statistics are incorrect. In the United States, those classified as "black" comprise about 12% of the population, while those classified as "white" comprise about 75% of the population. Since "whites" outnumber "blacks" by more than six to one, it is only reasonable that there would be more "whites" on welfare than "blacks" — IN ABSOLUTE NUMBERS. That is, when you count them up, there are more "whites" receiving welfare than "blacks". However, of all welfare recipients, only 50% are "white" (you would expect 75% to be "white") and 35% are "black" (you would expect only 12% to be). In other words, "blacks" are three times more likely to be on welfare, if you just look at their PERCENTAGE of the population.
