I love Ellen. I know she is kidding, but she would be great for the show.

I quit watch American Idol after the 3 rd season. But now that Ellen's on it I'm going to check it out again. I love Ellen!!

Bad enough Paula left. The only real fun was watching the interaction between paula and simon. No one could fill her shoes and I probably will not watch it most nights now but this will be a deal breaker completly if she joins...She is a comic and a boring one at that.

No offense to Ellen - she's great BUT she has nothing to do with the music industry and if I have to watch her dance on Idol I'll puke... seriously - just the thought made me throw up in my mouth a little. I bet they are paying Ellen more then they were going to pay Paula... if that comes out - I'm DONE with Idol - there is no reason Ryan should be making more money then Paula and NO reason Ellen should be replacing her with a higher salary. BOOOOOOOOOO IDOL.

LOS ANGELES – Ellen DeGeneres is dancing her way onto "American Idol," replacing Paula Abdul as the show's fourth judge.

In a Wednesday release from Fox and the show's producers, DeGeneres described herself as a longtime fan of the hit singing contest.

Abdul, who announced she was quitting the show amid a contract dispute, had been replaced by a succession of guest judges as "American Idol" started next season's auditions.

DeGeneres, host of a daytime talk show, wasn't among them. She will join Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi for the ninth season starting in January.

I like the comment that Jerry Lewis should be a judge. If you want to recreate Abduls strange pronouncements his your man. I'd love his comebacks to Cowell.

Ellen is going to look at the performances as a viewer..like us..and she would be good at discussing performances, as Ellen herself is a performer:)
