Simon Settles Lawsuit with Arch Nemesis

9/15/2009 3:08 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Simon CowellThe personal chef who sued Simon Cowell and Terri Seymour just hit the smallest jackpot we've ever seen in a celebrity lawsuit -- a pair of old sneakers and some gas money!

As TMZ first reported, the chef filed suit against Simon and Terri earlier this month, claiming the "American Idol" judge wouldn't return her running shoes -- equipped with $500 orthopedic insoles. The chef claims Terri made her remove the shoes before entering Cowell's Hollywood Hills mansion.

But yesterday, Team Simon and the chef reached a settlement -- the chef got her shoes back ... plus around $75 in court costs ... and $9 for the gas!

We just spoke to the chef, who told us, "I got my shoes back ... yayyyyyyy!"

Case closed.

Funny that people are making fun of this. This was actually an episode of Sex in the City, where Carrie was forced to remove her expensive shoes at a friends' house, only to have them stolen. Carrie was quite upset and thought the host should replace them. This is really no different. I am sure that $500 is a lot of money to most of us, and I, too, would be upset that Cowell didn't make much effort to locate her shoes. Obviously, they still had them since they are being returned as part of the settlement. Maybe you have $500 to throw away, but I don't.

It's pretty sad that they didn't care about this human being at all and couldn't be bothered to look for her shoes until she had to sue them. News flash, if you have something that doesn't belong to you, return it! DUH!

All I will say is, Simon Cowell probably didn't know about this until it came to you really think (as you all keep going on about the sort of money he earns) that he keeps tabs on everyones shoes? He will clearly have staff that takes care of this...he he! The biggest waste of time is the person that went to court over this...$9 for gas...get a grip!! Waste of time and is this post ha!

She did it for the Fame?
She had to SUE him to get her freakin shoes back.

If he didn't know about the shoes until he was being sued...
then his media friends...
would have written that that was the case.

Maybe you would have walked away...
if someone had ripped you off...
but she didn't.

Your commments are frivolous.

Simon/or Terry could have, and should have handled this much better.

I don't understand why anybody would make negative remarks about the woman who sued to get her shoes back. She just asked for her shoes and a few bucks for gas. That's a very fair request, by rights she could have asked for compensation for the time she had to waste on it because they wouldn't just look harder for the shoes.

She didn't waste the court's time. Judges are supposed to settle disputes, that's their job. Small claims court is for exactly this sort of thing. The only jerks here are Simon and Terri, they're the ones who wasted everybody's time.
