Polanski's attorney, Herve Temime, called into "GMA" this morning to say his client is in "very good shape" and believes it will be possible for him "to obtain his freedom."

The director was taken into custody by Swiss authorities trying to enter Switzerland on Saturday. He was captured on a 30-year-old warrant after he pled guilty in 1977 to having unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.

I'm not surprised that he is going to fight.

He's been on the run, avoiding certain countries, for +30 yrs and was so determined to sodomize a 13 yr old that he drugged her.

The Manson Family ended up in jail where they all belong. They are paying for their crimes.

What, makes the Hollywood, etc., elite think they are so special, that they don't have to serve jail time or long sentences for that matter, for their crimes.

Oh, just check yourself into rehab over and over or yet, promise the judge, it will never happen again. They all make me sick.

And I can't wait for the day, when America, or for that matter, the world gets tired of the infatuation with celebrities, who I might add, without the makeup and plastic surgery, look just like the rest of us.

This story has nothing to do with Polanski's jewish background. This is a so called man who gave alcohol and drugs to a child of 13...he knew she was 13 and he raped her. period. he pled guilty and fled the sentencing phase of his trial. He has had more sexual escapades with minors over the years...a sicko with no morals to face his choice of criminal behaviour. Hilary Clinton needs to stay out of it and Polanski needs to come back and face the music.

Hey Rosie....Why is it when he made The Piano the Jewish community wasn't up in arms that he was even allowed to present the movie because of his background, never mind giving him great accolades and suggested all should be forgotten mostly because he produced such a moving film?

I bet it has something to do with the United States putting pressure on Switzerland because of their banking laws. Now that they've turned in people that were holding money over there, they're bending over for the United States on everything else. The guy had a home over there for years and years. Why didn't they get him sooner?

FYI The statute of limitations does not apply as he had already been CONVICTED (plead guilty) but skipped the country before sentencing. Any agreement to free him would be an INSULT regardless of how the victim feels 30plus years later. He admitted he was GUILTY. If he was not a celebrity it would be a completely different story!!!

Money Talks

What differences between European and North American cultures. I have been reading French forums and EVERYBODY without exception is upset and wants Mr. Polanski to be released RIGH NOW, while in North America (U.S. and Canada) they are claiming for harsh punishment.

In Europe people think of sex as a necessary act of life and tend to find almost everything normal. While in North America people, it seems to me, are more hypocrites. They shout and want to hang those who dare do something agains the strict moral code, but who are they to cast the first stone, when we KNOW what goes on behing closed doors, not to mention closets.

I think Mr Polanski will not be extradited to the U.S. so relax everybody.

Innocent till proven guilty??? He admitted his guilt in a California court and fled after he determined he would receive jail time. He should be forced to pay his penalty and be branded a sexual predetor for the rest of his life. Perhaps every film he directed should include a "sexual predetor" designation after his name.

I dont think he has anything to worry about this is the American Justice system. He'll make a judge famous then walk free.

The statute of limitation does not apply to a fugitive.

People feel sorry for this man because he had a horrid life. However, he had no right to use his anger in distroying a 13 year old child.
