'Pulp Fiction' Writer Gets Time for Fatal Crash

Pulp Fiction Writer Roger AvaryThe guy who co-wrote "Pulp Fiction" with Quentin Tarantino will have plenty of alone time to think of his next script -- he just landed time behind bars over his fatal DUI crash last year.

Roger Avary -- who landed an Oscar for the script -- was sentenced yesterday in Ventura County, CA to one year behind bars.

Avary pled guilty in August to gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI -- after a passenger in his Mercedes died when he wrapped his car around a telephone pole in Ventura County in 2008.

Cops say his car was traveling more than 100 MPH.

Avary -- who also co-wrote "Beowulf" and directed "The Rules of Attraction" -- also got five years probation.

3. That's it? One year?? And they wonder why drunk drivers keep drinking and driving for YEARS despite constantly getting caught. Kill someone with your own car and all you get is a year. Hell why shoot your annoying co-worker or strangle your wife, just take them out for a fun night of drinking, then toss them in the car and slam into a tree, be sure "your" seatbelt is on and you are home free.. no murder charges for you.

8. Roger Avary gets 1 year for killing a person, Nick Hogan does 8 months for turn someone into a vegetable, Lane Garrison does 1 1/2 for killing a minor.... yet Mike Vick gets 2 years and loses all of his assets for killing a dog?

If Vick can do 2 years for killing a dog then these losers should get 10 years for killing people... I'm just saying.

11. What lame judge gave this creap only 1 year? Dee, the current law in Florida is a minimum 4yrs with the long side being 15 for each life lost plus 15 for serious bodily injury. The average sentence in a DUI manslaughter case in Florida gets somewhere between 8 and 12yrs....and rightfully so! How many years of life did this guy rob from the person he killed? and he only gets 1 yr??? the person he killed is gone forever, and he walks away in just 1 year. UNBELIEVABLE!

12. I know someone that have done 2 years for defending themselves from a psycho ex-girlfriend. One year in prison for a video clerk nerd like Avary will be like 10 years for regular folk. Now he'll get to experience criminals that fascinate him so much up close. I wonder if Apple will be using this vegan in future Final Cut Pro campaigns. Apple has done a good job removing any info about their past association off the net.
