Jon and Kate -- Overextended

10/5/2009 4:08 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

We're told Jon & Kate Gosselin aren't living hand to mouth, but the $200,000 account that Jon raided was the only real source of living income.

Kate Gosselin, Jon Gosselin

There's a report out that the couple is saddled with a $720,000 mortgage on their $1.12 million house. There was talk that TLC bought the house for them outright but we've learned that is not true. TLC paid them a salary and that's it.

We're told Jon and Kate have established a trust fund for their kids and it's well into the 6 figures, but they have significant debt. They still haven't been able to sell their first house and they owe a mortgage on it.

The reality is ..."Jon & Kate Plus 8" is good for the 8 but Jon and Kate are kinda strapped.

I wonder how much each of them gets paid for interviews...because they both LOVE to talk to the media. That must help pay the bills, no?

whatever

Whoever said that Kate has the bank statments and wont give them to Jon because it shows she took money is an idiot. All he has to do is go online, walk in the bank or call them and they can tell him exactly what transactions have been made to the account and when.

Fools Rush In

People seem to think Kate's reactions are much different than other people going through the same event in their lives, a divorce. Even if the marriage is just in name and finance only in the end, it's still very traumatic to have a loss of control of something so essential, like your finances. I don't think there is one of us that doesn't panic and ask ourselves what we will do at moments like that.
Ask yourself how you feel when you lose your wallet, even though the financial impact may be temporary, it's still crushing in it's own way.

Kate shouldn't have to go back to "work," as she has found something to do that she enjoys and many people are willing to pay for, directly or indirectly. If you want to talk about "burden" to the "taxpayer," try the tax implications of a single mother working to support 8 children, even at a good salary an RN can make. By the time credits and adjustments are made for that many in one family, she will not be paying taxes and will receive a refund, not to mention any other benefits they might qualify for. Let her pay her taxes and leave a job for someone that needs it desperately as their only way.

Kids don't need some idealization of "perfect." All in all, the kids are getting a great shake out of life and are truly blessed to have all the opportunities that they have and will have. Their life is way better than a kid in slums of India or in the war torn country of the Sudan. If I had my choice as a kid, I think I would rather put up with some inconvenience of having my life somewhat public at times rather than not seeing much of my mom because she is working 12 hour shifts to try and keep all 9 of us afloat. I don't think I would want to trade in lots of room to roam to go back to cookie cutter suburbia, either.

To each his own.

JON: does this mean you are GETTING A JOB since you're fighting to shut off your family's income?

It is true Kate has an RN degree. For an average family this would be a good salary. However, in her situation, child care would pratically consume her entire salary. It doesn't sound as though she can count on Jon for any contribution toward living expenses for the children. At least when she and the children are filming she is with them. This is an advantage for the children.

Why is everybody worried about the Gosselins and how financially strapped they are? This show has been on the air for years and the Gosselins have raked in millions of dollars. Why the American public is fascinated with this dysfunction is beyond me?

These two idiots are wealthy. Go worry about your own mortgages, kids, car payments and so forth. Neither Kate nor Jon have to go to work tomorrow morning and their kids live in a mansion.

John and Kate whose money is it really? The thousands of fans that bought your charade, compasonate fans at that who gave you "love offerings" or bought your books or attended your engagements, all
in the name of deceipt and lies. If everyone really knew - you never needed the money, the kid's education has been taken care of. You are nothing but a fraud and should be brought up on charges. Why don't you take the high road for real, tell the truth or shut up!!
