Michael Jackson -- Not Most Likely to Succeed

10/10/2009 8:40 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Michael Jackson might have been the "most creative" and "best dressed" ... but he wasn't the "most likely to succeed" -- at least according to his high school classmates.

An auction of MJ memorabilia took place yesterday in L.A., including his 1976 high school yearbook from Cal Prep in Encino, CA. In the yearbook, Michael was voted pretty much what everyone would have expected -- best dressed, most creative, shyest -- but NOT most likely to succeed.

That honor was reserved for one Scott Ashdown -- who's probably a perfectly nice person, but we've never heard of him.

Even though success is relative and money isn't everything -- can we get a recount for MJ?

Michael was already successful at this point in his life. Also, one can't help wondering just how Michael's life would've been sooooooo different if he'd had a more loving gentle father. Michael's talent would always have been there and he'd no doubt have been a success but he would've been a much happier person and still alive. Old Joe really was a tyrant and it affected Michael the worst. RIP Michael Jackson. Gone toooooo soon.

33. It was my yearbook that I sold .The school was a very small private school grades 7th to 12th and Michael was not there all the time. When he was in town he went to school. Michael should have been in the graduating class based on his age but I don't know why he wasn't. Only the graduates were pictured in a section alone. The other pages mixed all the grades.

That's great to hear susan. So you are a friend/classmate or relative of MJs?
Why would you want to part with your yearbook?
Is this really you susan?

That's only because he was ALREADY successful. Is there any oxygen up in TMZ's brain? I think they should get some tanks. But thanks for informing. The headlines COULD'VE been a bit different...oh say I DONT KNOW..."MJ Voted Best dressed in HS"....and then a follow up. BUT NO, they had to start out negative. Typical.

# 37 I do not know where you live but all blacks are not that way there are more blacks that I encounter that are concerned with their education and a life that every red blooded AMERICAN wants. I am black my children are of course and my children are excelling in their education and ALL of our BLACK associates. It is NOT the proper thing to say, judging a group of people by their racial ethnicity. I CAN NOT believe that a woman with children would speak in this manner, maybe this is the reason your son doesn't care for blacks! WE ALL NEED TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER WITHOUT PREJUDICE...If for any reason you dislike someone let it be for their conduct NOT THEIR RACE!!!

Censorship has put himself into a melancholy fix. Do not be. All is well with your soul.

Michael Jackson already had a very successful career in 1976. So his classmates probably didn't nominate him because it was just unnecessary.

P.S. That's a pretty sweet fro.

In 1976, Michael was already VERY successful. He was 17-18 years of age and VERY VERY VERY successful. The school has got it well and truly wrong.
