College to Letterman: Don't Touch Our Interns!

10/13/2009 2:15 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

David LettermanA Connecticut college has initiated a new program to keep David Letterman interns at arms length from the host.

A rep from Quinnipiac University tells TMZ:

"Due to recent circumstances we will have a discussion with those in charge of placing our interns at the David Letterman show in the future.

We will diligently oversee this internship program to ensure that our interns are out of harm's way."

David might be happy to know the college has no plans to end the program.

what a loser

Whomever at Quinnipiac or whatever the university's name who made these statements and took action should be fired. It's a nice way of hindering employment opportunities for students AND alumni. Is THIS what Quinn.. wants to be known for? How about some kind of innovation in an industry Quinn is known for? This is the worst PR move for a university I've ever seen. I hope the Board at Quinn -- both for its Foundation and Alumni Relations -- take action on this. What a stupid thing for Quinn to do... It's huring the school's brand. When an alum or student go for a job interview the FIRST thing out of the interviewer's mouth is going to be about Letterman.. makes the school look like imbiciles. When a prof goes to speak at a conference or interact with peers he/she is also going to be mocked for this Letterman thing. IMO, someone needs to be fired over this.

This whole thing is rediculous. College students are adults and they were not "molested". The woman involved never complained. This happens with male and female interns all the time. It's between David Letterman and his now "wife". Move on.
