We just got hold of the birth certificate for Nicole Richie's 5-week-old son, but one word was suspiciously missing: Richie.
The newborn boy's full name is listed as Sparrow James Midnight Madden -- no big deal, until you remember Joel Madden and Nicole aren't married ... and their daughter Harlow's last name is Richie Madden.
What's another six letters on an already-mouthful-of-a-name?

It's simple. When they split up, Harlow goes with Nicole and Sparrow (why do you people do this to a child!) will go with Joel.

Did you notice that Nicole's middle name is spelled differently on the birth certificates? And shes the one that signed both of them... wouldn't you think she would have noticed that? I know I would have.

You dont have to be married to have the baby's dad's name on the birth certificate, but to have the baby's dad's info added on to the birth certificate you need to have a Declaration of Paternity if the parents are not married.

And? You don't have to be married to give the baby the father's last name. You don't even have to give him either of the last names really. You could write down any last name you wanted.
