Mistrial in Travolta Extortion CaseThe judge in the John Travolta extortion case has declared a mistrial, reportedly because of jury misconduct.

Justice Anita Allen released the jury and declared a mistrial after learning that a member of Parliament announced at a political convention that defendant Pleasant Bridgewater -- a former Senator -- had been acquitted by the jury.

It's unclear if jurors had actually reached a verdict. There's an unconfirmed report that one of the jurors may have communicated information to the Parliament member who spoke out.

No word on whether the jury may have reached a verdict on Tarino Lightbourne.

10. TMZ...stay on this. The potential blowout from a certain Bahamian political party (that is currently having their party elections) is huge!

11:27pm – Senior Justice Anita Allen discharged the jury in the Travolta attempted extortion trial from returning with a verdict at 10:54pm, almost nine hours after they began deliberating, informing them that two hours earlier there was an announcement at a political convention that one of the accused had been acquitted.

“We are very concerned in the interest of justice that it does not appear that there has been a communication from the jury room. Justice must not only be done, but seen to be done. I am very reluctant to discharge you,” she told the jurors.

No word yet on when a retrial is likely to happen.

11. I think that john is a good man but deprived the boy of needed medical care because of his believes. Stupid and dangerous to the point of the boy dying. That's just my thoughts as misguided as they may be. I feel that if you are wealthy and have access to dr's take advantage of it. I don't think the Travolta's did from what Ive read and seen. I really like John and his body of work but you got to get a grasp on reality because you only have one chance and you should spare no expense or effort to save a child. I hope he did all he could, and it sucks if someone is trying to capitalize on the death of a child. If that's the case bury the guy.

IN SUCH A CLIMATE OF CORRUPTION, I BET THE JURORS ARE EXTREMELY FEARFUL OF RETRIBUTION FROM THE POLICE, THE COPS' FRIENDS, AND/OR ANY SUCH PEOPLE, ETC. .THAT THEY COULD EASILY END UP AS SHARK BAIT. AN ANONYMOUS JURY SHOULD BE BROUGHT IN AT ONCE FROM THE U.K., THAT IS FAR BEYOND THE REACH OF THOSE DIRTY BAHAMIAN COPS. THIS WOULD BE BUT THE FIRST MEASURE TOWARD SETTING THE NEXT NEW TRIAL ON THE CORRECT FOOTING.
FIVE YEARS? FIVE YEARS IS ALL THAT THE CONSPIRACY CHARGE CARRIES? THERE SHOULD BE AT LEAST FIVE OR SIX CHARGES IN THAT INDICTMENT, INCLUDING CONSPIRACY TO STEAL SUCH A HUGE SUM OF MONEY (25 MIL), SLANDER, EXTORTION, CONSPIRACY TO EXTORT, BLACKMAIL, AND AS MANY OTHER RELATED CHARGES AS THEY CAN TACK ON ALONG WITH IT.
