to the guy who said people are having a conversation with god.. if u really believe u are talking to a god then your a lil crazy.. its one thing to believe and to have a open conversation where you think he is listening.. but if you truly think your having a conversation with god.. you need help.. and also, the teachings of christ never once mentioned homosexuality or abortion.. however he did talk about the weak and the poor.. also despised war.. however these hypocritical christian right people who talk about abortion and gay marriage like it was part of his teachings.. Rich and Anony, please do some research and actually try to think for yourself instead of spewing the ignorance that your dear old daddy told you after sunday school. The fight for civil rights can VERY easily be equated to the struggle for civil rights of the 1950's and 60's. You obviously think that homosexuality is a choice...that every gay guy out there just up and decided one day that he was going to go start "poking the browneye" and sucking c@ck. Well, guess what, it doesn't quite work that way. I've pretty much known that I was gay since I was pretty young and stayed in the closet for a LONG time because of the ignorance and intolerance of society. Just like in the 50's and 60's, we're fighting to not have our rights (the rights of an obvious minority) subjugated by the majority. African Americans, Jewish Americans, Japanese Americans (WWII), and Irish Americans have all faced prejudice and intolerance at the hands of the rich, white, christian majority since the founding of this country and gays and lesbians are just the next in line. Just like the aforementioned groups, however, gays and lesbians WILL get their rights. As far as what it says in the Bible or the Quran or whatever religious book you may worship from, there are no direct references to homosexuality anywhere in Red writing, meaning that God's word, nor Jesus' words for that matter, never denounced homosexuality as a sin. All of the so-called right wing Christian zealots love to use their favorite scriptures from Leviticus that "mankind shall not lay with mankind as he lays with woman". I've read that too, but I've also read the other verses dealing with wearing clothes of different types of fabric, eating shellfish, lying with a woman while she's having her period, and the list goes on and on that Christians continue to "overlook". The problem with organized religion is that people decide what parts of the bible to follow and what parts they don't want to follow. Oh, and lets not forget about religious wingnuts that forget to read the New Testament that God, Allah, etc. are loving and forgiving Gods and they choose to read and quote the old Testament in which God was spiteful and vengeful. Now you religious nutjobs out there are REALLY going to hate this because this is where I equate you hatemongers with the extremist groups of other religions who hijack their own peaceful religions and kill in the name of their God. There is absolutely no difference between you hijacking Christianity and selectively reading the Bible and picking and choosing the best verses that support your claims, and the religious hacks of, for example, the Muslim faith who take a beautiful and peaceful religion and make it into an ugly, hate-filled jihad against anyone whose interpretation differs from their own. I have known many people of both of these religions and I count myself to be a Christian because I know that God loves me, and that true Christians love me. Maybe you should decide if you want to be paralleled with so much hate, or if you want to be paralleled with love.
