Moments after Brittany Murphy's family laid the actress to rest in L.A. yesterday -- they released a statement expressing their "devastation."
The statement, released through a family spokesperson, explains, "There are no words that can truly express the devastation felt by Brittany's husband, mother, and everyone who attended the intimate service."
Brittany's husband, Simon Monjack, delivered a eulogy which "described his loving relationship with Brittany and how she was his best friend and soul mate. "
Monjack also spoke about the nature of love, saying "you never know when or where it will strike or how quickly it will be taken from you."
According to the family, a Jewish prayer was recited -- as well as a rendition of Amazing Grace -- as Brittany's body was interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The statement concluded, "Christmas was Brittany's favorite holiday. So the family asks that all those who wish to honor her light a candle and remember the beautiful angel that entertained, enlightened, and made the world a better place."

The world has lost a little bit of sunshine. Her untimely death is heartbreaking. This was a girl who made it on her own, no Hollywood relatives to help her, no nepotism, she came out to LA to perform, and she achieved her dream. BM was multi talented, she had done drama and comedy equally well, had a number one song, was the voice of a long running hit animated show, had done broadway, but i can't help but think we still hadn't seen her best work yet. :( I was so looking forward to seeing her take on more mature work. You will be so missed Miss Murphy. RIP
Yes sad. If you have a loved one with problems help them if you can. Don't leave it up to someone else. You be the leader.
Robert, I loved your post.
I'll miss you Brittany. You were an amazing actress. RIP
Again, life proves it's not fair. Rest in peace Brittany. I loved you from afar.
I really am so sad, she was such a sweet girl. It was obvious that she was insecure and did not realize what a gem she was. I saw her in The Devil's Arithmetic ( I recommend this movie!!) where she plays a jewish girl who survives the Holocaust. She was absolutly brilliant, and it really is sad that everyone remembers her as the kid in Clueless when she has done serious acting. Inspite of her bubbly personality, she really had the saddest eyes for someone her age. Poor poor girl.
Anyone else notice that in the preview for "It's Complicated," one of the promo lines is "You'll die laughing"? It's one of the three movies she watched with her hubby the day of her death. Kind of surprised they didn't edit it out.
Anyway, very sad to have to bury a loved one on Christmas Eve. Rest in Peace Brittany.
Rest in Peace sweet Angel. Thank you for being a bright light in a sometimes to dark world.
Everyday people die that we don't know, but this one bothered me.
God cuz some actress dies everyone wants to pull ads, movies and products
get over it
I am post number six and do not appreciated the hyperlink to eharmony. That is very disrespectful considering I had a genuine statement.
