The JFK Photo That Could Have Changed History

12/28/2009 4:07 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

TMZ has obtained a never-before published photograph which appears to show John F. Kennedy on a boat filled with naked women -- it's a photo that could have altered world events.

John F. Kennedy Photograph
We believe the photo was taken in the mid-1950s. It shows two naked women jumping off the boat and two more naked women sunning on the top deck. Just below the top deck -- a man appearing to be John F. Kennedy is lying on a deck, sunning himself.

TMZ had multiple experts examine the photo -- all say there is no evidence the picture was Photoshopped. The original print -- which is creased -- was scanned and examined for evidence of inconsistent lighting, photo composition and other forms of manipulation. The experts all concluded the photo appears authentic.

A forensic photo expert says the print appears to be authentic. The expert says the photo is printed on paper consistent with what was used in the 1950s. The emulsion on the surface of the print has numerous cracks -- the result of aging and handling.

There are numerous articles and books on President John F. Kennedy which mention a 2-week, Mediterranean boating trip that JFK -- then a Senator -- took in August, 1956, with his brother Ted Kennedy and Senator George Smathers. The trio reportedly entertained a number of women on the yacht. Jackie Kennedy was pregnant at the time and was rushed to the hospital while JFK was an the boat. Doctors performed an emergency C-section, but the infant was stillborn.

A forensic analyst superimposed an image of Kennedy taken at the Democratic National Convention in August 1956, just days before Kennedy went on the Mediterranean cruise. The analyst says the features from the two pics almost precisely sync up. TMZ has also had two Kennedy biographers examine the photo -- they also believe JFK is in the picture.

The photo was eventually given to a man who owned a car dealership on the East coast. The man kept it in a drawer for years, and would brag to friends he had an image of JFK on a boat with naked women. The man died 10 years ago and one of his sons inherited the photo.

Had the photo surfaced when John F. Kennedy ran for President in 1960, it could have torpedoed his run, and changed world history.

Harvey ... you are the best. You are starting a new wave of investigative journalism, and I'm glad it's in your hands!

I've always held a firm belief that people of power generally behave the same, we just live in a society now that is quicker to catch on and more eager to bring them down.

SO WHAT. Hart bangs Donna, Clinton bangs Monica, Sanford bangs Argentina, Palin bangs her husband (the same as cheating because the guy is so clueless).

So Kennedy was a womanizer. And you're saying that's news?

Who knew JFK was so cool lol.

Hey MJ fans, here's the recently released music video for Michael's latest single "This Is It" directed by Spike Lee:

It's a beautiful tribute.

Does make Harvey feel powerful to destroy a reputation posthumously? Not saying what JFK did was right. But, why dig crap up at this point? What does it achieve? I guess Harvey showed us we shouldn't admire Kennedy as a President. Must make him feel really good.

Kennedy was a great president and a great man in the old sense of the phrase: Churchill, Roosevelt (both of them), Kennedy, among others. This photo is an important piece of history, and it shows the (perhaps) darker side of one of our most significant presidents. Whether you are a republican or democrat, you have to admit that Kennedy, his life and tragic death, were a major part of United States history in the twentieth century.

Identifying specific people in old photos is notoriously unreliable. Books have been written about this.

"Authentic"? What does that mean? That it wasn't Photoshopped? That it was probably taken in the 1950s? Big deal. "Appearing to be": what does THAT mean? That is looks like it could be him? Looks more like George Smathers to me. (Check out a photo of him.)

Yes, it could be Kennedy. It also could be several thousand other people. Give us some REAL evidence.

Did bikinis really exist in the 50s? I don't think so - and you can see the tan lines on the bottom of the woman jumping into the water. It doesn't seem right.

What's unfortunate is that the US is such an anal and backward country that thinks the human body is something to be ashamed of, and here you have a private boat out on the water and some women want to take a swim and the morbid degenerates 4000 miles away back in Deadsville, Oklahoma get jealous and emotionally disjointed at that! There is no problem in the photo. Is there a problem in your skull that needs to be corrected with some classes in "HOW TO BE HUMAN"? LBJ and the Federal Reserve had JFK shot to prevent him from putting the money supply under government control like it should be (like most Americans think it is, though it hasn't been since Woodrow Wilson's major Christmas-time mistake), it wasn't for any other reason. Trying to bring down JFK's reputation with photos like this is pure diversion. Pure diversion!

Obvious fake, and I will tell you why. None of your 23-yr-old photoshop people will catch this either.

The bikini tan-lines on the chick jumping from the boat are from a style of bikini that pretty much wasn't invented until much later.. like the late 70's.

You guys are hacks. LOL

As an addition to my previous comment, while in general the human body is certainly nothing to be ashamed of, there are many bodies that because of neglect and abuse have become disgusting to look at. However, rather than be ashamed, the people should start eating well balanced natural diets and get plenty of rest, exercise and exposure to wilderness. There it is.
