Boise State Broncos Take Down 400 lbs of Meat

12/31/2009 11:55 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

The undefeated Boise State football team is hungry for a bowl win -- they're also hungry for meat ... lots and lots of meat. In fact, they had a cow.

TMZ has learned the Broncos had a team dinner at Fogo De Chao last night -- a Brazilian all-you-can-eat steakhouse in Scottsdale, Arizona.

A rep for the restaurant tells us they served 130 members of the team, who, on average, consumed between 3-4 pounds of meat per person, totaling roughly 450 pounds of beef.

The Broncos are set to face undefeated TCU in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 4th, but before the big game, the Horned Frogs will take a shot at Boise's meat-chomping record -- TCU will hit Fogo tomorrow night.

Roger, when schools make it to bowl games they get a lot of handouts as rewards from the sponsors. Some bowl games the kids get PS3's, dvd players, hats, watches, etc. Some bowl games give out some great stuff. Its the sponsors of the bowl games that give the stuff to the players.

Obviously Fogo is connected to the Bowl game or experience in some way. It says that TCU is going there friday so chances are Fogo is covering the bill.

And Jeremy, have you see football players eat? Especially college football players? You're talking about some guys that are 6'6-6'8, 275-310 lbs. It doesnt say every kid ate 3-4 lbs of meat. Thats the average. Some of the linemen prob chowed down 6 lbs at least. My boss had a 5 lb lobster the other night when we went out to dinner. These guys can eat.

GROSS NASTY

how many will die of heart attacks or colon cancer?????

the red meat rots in the gut & carcinogens transfer into blood through the membrane into organs , the kidney & liver work harder & the arteries are being clogged with blobs of FAT

& of course on a quicker level the red meat in the GUT will cause bad breath & body odor & bloating

A couple things about this story that are inconsistent:

1. I am sure some of the bigger lineman can take down 3-4 lbs. a sitting but not everyone on the team. Your 185 lbs. cornerbacks don't eat like that.

2. Max roster size for D1A schools is 105 and it can only suit up 70 for travel games...lets assume the other 65 were coaches, parents, boosters, etc. Does that still make sense? Is some players' mom woofing down pound after pound of beef? I don't think so.

3. I dont' have a third point and I have not idea what compelled me to comment on this story.
