Whip It Good!

1/3/2010 7:10 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

The punk-rock patrons were photographed looking futuristic!

Devo was considered a pioneer in music videos.

Devo's co-founder, Mark Mothersbaugh, is credited for many of the incredible Wes Anderson movie soundtracks.

Love those guys. They all look great. Especially a fan of Mark Mothersby. I think he has done lots of voice over an music work for Nickelodean shows like the RugRats.

Devo was definitely not punk. Devo was surrealist or avant-garde (for it's day).

Devo was late 70's early 80s new wave with a techno edge. Gawd I'm old.

Best comment so far was "futuristic Shriners". That was funny.

Devo was ABSOLUTELY correct - DE-EVOLUTION. We are now in a Clockwork Orange age of droogies and drug lords. Bring our troops home to fight the drug lords throughout the Americas.

I still say the Devo concert I went to was one of the best in my life. You couldn't stay in your seat and could cut the air with a knife because there was so much energy. They changed their outfit for every song. I've been goin on about it for thirty years now. That's a fun concert!!!!!

I saw them last month and they were fantastic! way to go guys - and no, they were never punk, but they sure pegged de-evolution right, 'cos if we ain't seeing it go down now, then I hate to see what's coming!

DEVO is a part of the pre-punk movement. They started playing gigs at KSU (Kent State) in the early 70s. Needless to say, there was no category for what these epic art dorks were doing. They probably have more in common with Kraftwerk than the Dead Boys, but hey! What they have machined is pretty punk rock.
