'Jersey Shore' Kids

Drive Hard Bargain

1/24/2010 11:30 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

0124_jersey_shore_photo-1The "Jersey Shore" kids didn't fall off the pizza delivery truck yesterday -- TMZ has learned they have rejected MTV's salary offer for Season 2.

Sources connected with the negotiation say MTV offered Snooki, Pauly D, "The Situation" and the others each a $10,000 signing bonus and $5,000 an episode.

We're told the cast rejected the offer and made it clear -- they were negotiating "Friends" style ... everyone would get the same amount and it had to be a lot higher than MTV's offer.

Sources say MTV came back and doubled the offer -- $10,000 an episode. The cast hasn't responded to the offer.

It's still a bargain. The season finale of "Jersey Shore" was off the charts with 4.8 million viewers.

And, with some members of "The Hills" scoring north of $100,000 an episode, the "Jersey Shore" kids, frankly, should be holding out for a hell of a lot more than $10k.

We've also learned MTV has a contractual hold on the cast for another year, so technically Snooki and company have no right to renegotiate -- but it's done all the time with hit shows.

An MTV spokesperson would not comment on the negotiations and said the network has not made a decision on bringing the show back for Season 2. We're also told MTV has received thousands of tapes from would-be Guidos and Guidettes.

They are walking a fine line.

I think the cast is worth more than 10k per episode, but MTV COULD dump them all and come back with an all-new cast. A new bunch could be just as popular, if not more so.

10,000/ week to party every night and gym, tan laundry every day seems more than fair. I don't blame them for asking for more than 5k though. MTV made the show but the characters made the show a hit. If they are raking in 7,500-10,000/night to party, then MTV was right to up the ante.

I've never watched this show and never will. I'm not their demographic so they don't care and they are not my cup of tea so neither do I. That said the only reason people watch this garbage in the first place is all the negative publicity that they received initially. MTV knows fake hype when they see it and if these little clowns think for a moment anybody would have a clue who they were if this was the first and last season they are wrong. I wouldn't give them a penny more than there contract calls for and move onto the next town like every other cookie cutter program MTV has. Lastly, this girl Pukie is short and fireplugish so I'm not impressed.

MTV probably doesn't want to pay the little juvie delinquents more because they know they're going to get hit with lawsuits because of "stunts" these brainless, silicone filled grammar school dropouts do.

If any of them get more than a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich per episode they're overpaid.

Where is the "none of the above" options. These people aren't worth the air they breath: uneducated, ignorant, addicts.

I have not seen the show nor have a desire to see it. I have seen these people on TMZ however. What a bunch of losers. Their 15 minutes are up. There should be an option to pay less than the MTV offer. That is what I would have chosen.

They should hold out for like 25,000 per episode. It the best show on t.v. and i cant wait for the new season, and everyone will be anticipating the return of the show. If season 2 does very well then they should get that hills but like 25,000 is fair.

i don't think the 2nd Season is goinq to be as good..maybe if they change the cast know keep the three people like ( snooki, pauly D, the situation) and replace all the other ones.. just saying the other one are boring... or maybe snooki, pauly D, and the situation could have their own show... they are the ones that made that show right ...

You Go, Judge Joe

They should be paid based upon their level of education - just as teachers are. Oh wait - they'd wind up owing MTV money! I attempted to watch this excuse for a show and wound up changing the channel within 10 minutes. It is a lame, stereotypical excuse to show implants and hair gel.
