'Jersey Shore' -- MTV Tries to Divide and Conquer

1/25/2010 10:40 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

The stars of "Jersey Shore" have been negotiating with MTV like "Friends"... but the network could be turning them into enemies with some serious brinkmanship.

Jersey Shore
Sources tell TMZ the network has told the cast if they don't accept MTV's deal by the end of business Monday, they will be replaced. And, MTV has told them it does not have to be a package deal -- the cast members who accept the offer will stay ... those who do not can have a nice life.

As we first reported, MTV offered each cast member a $10,000 signing bonus and $5,000 per episode. We're told the cast rejected the offer and made it clear they would all stand together and hold out for their price, though they didn't say what it was.

MTV made a new offer of $10,000 an episode -- there are 12 episodes in the new season -- but so far the cast hasn't responded.

We're told MTV already has replacements if Snooki, Pauly D, The Situation and the others don't accept the offer on Monday. But, we're told, MTV is happy to mix and match if some of the cast accepts the offer and others don't.

As for who's being the most hard-headed in the negotiations -- The Situation and Pauly D.

I think they are all expendable and they should recast it every year- just like they do on the Real World. Really, Paul and Mike will be over 30 next year...and who really wants to see some 30 something try and grease on young girls. It's f-ing gross.

And Snooki reminds me of "Cousin It"- a little thing that squeaks under a mound of hair.

Assuming that the price per episode request by the cast isn't that outrageous, I really don't see the problem with asking for more than what MTV offered. MTV will certainly make way more money from the show with season 2 so why shouldn't they pay the cast a little more. Sure, you could replace them but then you run the risk of failed ratings (because people already have expectations and bonds with the original cast) and lack of sponsorship due to the uncertain popularity of the show.

Who the hell gave Sammi "Sweetheart" her name? She's anything but sweet! First rate drama queen, sh!* starter as far as I can see! She played on Mike, then used Ronnie the whole season. Talking crap behind his back and flirting but Ronnie couldn't even talk to another girl without her drama starting up! That's why she walked out during the reunion show! She knew her "sweetheart" image was going to be exposed! And let's not forget how she kept mouthing off to people when Ronnie kept telling her to let it go! She wanted Ronnie to take her side and get into the middle of it with those guys and then acts all drama about how bad she felt! She kept making it worse! She is TROUBLE!

This show is one of the saddest commentaries on the young adults in this country today. I have yet to hear any of them complete a sentence that was grammatically correct. They look very unclean - like they haven't bathed in a month! And, God forbid, was I to be the parent of any one of them, I'd snatch a knot in their head so fast, the gel would fly out!

Season 2? I dread the possibility of Snooki getting to design her own fashion line and record deal.

These guido's are probably responsible for 105 of all the sales of Brut Cologne.
