Matt Hardy Involved in Chris Jericho Incident

1/28/2010 4:51 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

WWE star Matt Hardy was among a group of people involved in an early morning incident that led to the arrests of Chris Jericho and Greg "Hurricane" Helms, this according to law enforcement sources.

Matt Hardy, Chris Jerico, Ed Helms

Witnesses told cops Hardy was in a taxi with Jericho, Helms and several others Wednesday morning -- when Helms allegedly struck three people ... including one female.

Witnesses say Hardy took off on foot -- just like Helms allegedly did -- when the cab driver pulled over at a Kentucky gas station and called 911.

We're told Helms came back to the scene and was arrested -- but Hardy was gone for good. Cops are not pursuing any sort of action against Hardy.

As we first reported, the female passenger decided not to file charges against Helms over the alleged attack. Helms and Jericho were arrested for "alcohol intoxication in a public place."

This isn't an exclusive. It was reported first on the Cincinnati Enquirer's website www.enquirer.com along with the same two photos that TMZ plastered their logo all over. Shame on you TMZ..you're fibbing

Hardy was in a taxi with Jericho, Helms and several others... So at a bare minimum, there was Hardy, Jericho, Helms, the woman, and the driver... and they mention several others? How many people were stuffed into that taxi? Maybe someone farted and Helms was frantically trying to open a window to get some air but there was no room to MOVE with all those people in the cab, and some people got pushed around.

Explain to me how Matt was in the cab when he landed at RDU long before this incident....I can't stand this stupid S***! People grow up. You all act like you know these people...first time I have seen anything about any wrestler in the news as of late but you will bad mouth them when you have actors getting in constant trouble. This country amazes me with how they love to condemn somebody and refuse to look in the mirror and see what F*** ups they are!

To everyone saying "why are they calling it the Chris Jericho incident when he wasn't the one who hit someone" - it's pretty obvious to me - Jericho is the biggest star of the three, and the one whose name would probably be best known to non-fans of WWE - so of course everyone is going to use his name to attract attention.

Alright, I don't care about this but i do have to say one thing. There are many types of cabs. Some are regular cars, while others are mini-vans, like CASH CAB if you will. The van cab can hold about 5 or 6 people, not including someone sitting on someone elses lap like somepople tend to do. (Ie boyfriend girlfrid) so just throwing tha out there... continue.

ok im putting the record straigt. I read a news article about this situation stating that the police arent charging Hardy w/ anything because he wasnt intoxicated and the reason why he ran was to chase after Helms to bring him back. He didnt want Helms in any more trouble. It was also stated that witnesses said Helms did not hit the woman but after everything else i read i have a hard time believin that. And if u dont like these guys and what they do then why waste ur time commenting. Do something better w/ your lives.

They ran because they are tired of fake stories about what happens makes it to TMZ! I mean seriously, they were putting on a show for the non-wrestlers, pretending to be mad at each other. They were in a cab, which doesn't make sense for public intoxication. They were responsible and did nothing wrong.

Has anyone figured out that this is possibly a publicity stunt gone bad? Or should I say, awry, as Jericho would have insisted upon saying...
This type of stunt usually happens when has-beens, like Jericho and Hardy, and rarely-seens like Helms want to be in the 'wrestling' spotlight. I see that nobody noticed if there was an official WWE statement made by Vince or anyone else.

Remember, it's called sports entertainment for a reason...
