CBS Rejects Ad from Gay Dating Website

1/30/2010 8:00 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

CBS has rejected a Super Bowl commercial from a gay dating website called ManCrunch.com, saying it doesn't meet their "broadcast standards."

In a statement, the network said, "After reviewing the ad -- which is entirely commercial in nature -- our Standards and Practices department decided not to accept this particular spot." They added that it "is not within the Network's Broadcast Standards for Super Bowl Sunday."

The decision is in contrast to their choice to accept an ad from a pro-life organization featuring college football star Tim Tebow.

it is a funny commercial. i thought superbowl commercials are supposed to be funny.

pro-life commercial is bullying. people should be able to choose whatever they want to.

I don't have a problem with a gay commercial. What I have a problem with it looks more like a rape than anything romantical...oh and the double entendré "you suck".

I think CBS was right to pull this version...fix the two things mentioned above and it will be alright.

It is not so much that CBS rejected this ad and would otherwise perhaps consider ads from Harmony.com and Match.com (primarily straight dating sites)that I find objectionable, but rather the comments by posters using slurs and hateful rhetoric against gays. I would have thought and hoped that TMZ viewers might be more open and accepting of all people. Obviously, I was wrong.

Does the term "latent homosexual" mean anything to some of you people?

WHY ARE THEY COMPARING THIS TO THE TIM TEBOW AD????

There is nothing controversial about someone saying they chose NOT to have an abortion!!! How is choosing to bring a life into the world controversial???

It seems that many who consider themselves pro-choice, are ONLY pro-choice if the choice is ABORTION!!

Thomas,
so b/c theyre gay and cant procreate that makes them not normal?? I'm a straight female that chooses not to procreate, does that make me not normal?? What about men or women that are unable to have kids, are they abnormal????
Its not about the ability to procreate, its about LOVE!!

And for the idiot that said homosexuality is a mental disorder, youre clearly a MORON who has a mental disorder!!

CBS made the right call. That does not need to be shown. Children do watch T.V.

Yvonne,
I wonder how many Christians that are divorced use the Bible as an excuse for saying being gay is wrong. According to the Bible, divorce is a BIG SIN & Jesus spoke out against DIVORCE more than anything else!!

Ain't that America? We can all say whatever we want. Forget about political correctness. Say how you feel, people! I personally don't like the commercial. That's it.

wow. it made me really sad to read some of these things....a mental impairment??? that's just straight-up false. and yes, god made man and woman....but then he made many many more of the same gender. and if we were all meant to reproduce then the planet would have overcrowded a long time ago and we'd all be dead.

quite frankly, if someone believes in god so much, then they should realize it is ONLY up to god to judge, not YOU.

meanwhile, @ the post about drumming up publicity...yes, that does seem highly likely. and it worked.
