Brittany Murphy Death - 'Preventable'

2/4/2010 3:00 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Brittany Murphy's Cause of DeathSources involved in Brittany Murphy's autopsy tell TMZ her death was "preventable."

Sources say the primary causes of Murphy's death were pneumonia and severe anemia. L.A. County Coroner officials believe Brittany's condition was "treatable" but no one took her to the hospital in time.

As for the multiple drugs found in her system, we're told they were both prescription, including medicine for cramps, and over-the-counter medications, including cough syrup. Our sources say the drugs "pushed her over the line" but the underlying problems were the pneumonia and anemia.

In other words, Brittany was really sick, didn't get treatment and by self-medicating it pushed her over the line.

So her "husband" and "mother"( I use those terms loosely) sat by and watched the cash cow go down hill, gave her meds that interfered with her already labored breathing, and kept her hidden away instead of taking her to an ER to receive medical attention. That's what happens when parents are waiting for an allowance( see Lindsay Lohan) and spouses are looking for a free ride!!!!Makes me sick to see what goes on when people put fame and fortune above all!!!

For those of you who keep slamming Brittany's husband, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Are you aware that Brittany was "head over heels" in love with him and vice versa. They had a very special relationship and she was enjoying the first loving and successful relationship in her young life. He worshipped her and treated her like a princess. She adored him and it was her husband so why not stop the ridiculous hurtful comments. Brittany's mom lived in the home - she was right there to the end - and has nothing but good things to say about her son-in-law. Many of us have put off going to doctor.... in fact they often tell us that there is no cure for the flu so stay home and treat it yourself. She may have even told them she called the doctor - I have done that too. Bottom line - this a a very sad accident which has destroyed this family. Try being empathetic instead of mean!

So sad! Her D bag of a husband should have got her to a doctor instead of letting her get too sick to recover. I thought it was really pathetic, him "Blaming Hollywood" for her death. In the end he can blame himself....

Her poor general health could certainly be due to a poor diet due to extreme dieting. She's been looking like a skeleton for a long time.

Anemia is a common result of anorexia and starvation. She was too skinny. Anyone could see that.

It's sad when the facts come in and people still want to believe the worse. This was a tragic accident. Something that could happen to you or I. Brittany is cleared of being a druggie who overdosed or a woman that wouldn't eat so she could get hollywood skinny and some just have to still spread the hate. RIP Brittany. You are so missed and were an angel on earth just as you are now an angel in heaven. God Bless and comfort her family. This family deserves respect now so they can mourn properly instead of having to defend their loved one's honor.

It is not Anemias dumb azz. It is called Anemia or Anemic. It is a decrease in normal number of red blood cells (RBCs) or less than the normal quantity of hemoglobin in the blood.

You must be the same OhWell that posts on the MJ boards as well..... scary.

You are an idiot! My husband is anemic and he is neither anorexic nor starved!

Here is the definition of anemia:

What Causes Anemia?

There are three general causes of anemia:

•Decreased red cell production by the bone marrow

•Increased red cell destruction, or hemolysis

•Blood loss from heavy menstrual periods or internal bleeding

When you're anemic, your body either produces too few healthy red blood cells, or destroys them faster than they can be replaced or loses too many of them. If your diet lacks certain vitamins and minerals, the production of hemoglobin can slow down.

Types of anemia caused by decreases in red cell production include iron deficiency anemia and vitamin deficient anemia.

If something in the body destroys or attacks red blood cells, the bone marrow tries to produce more blood. If the destruction of red blood cells is rapid, the marrow can't catch up. This problem is often inherited. The resulting anemia is called hemolytic anemia.

A severe bleeding episode can result in temporary anemia until the body has had time to make up the blood that was lost. But even small, persistent losses of blood may cause anemia if you have a poor diet. A healthy person whose diet contains plenty of iron and vitamins can produce large amounts of new blood, reducing the risk of anemia.
