I absolutely loved the picture of Brees holding his son and sharing that joyous moment with his baby boy. What a beautiful father/son moment!

Thanks to the people who already explained where Who Dat came from.

To go a little more in depth, a lot of people in New Orleans speak a dialect called Yat. There are even more dialects of Yat within the actual dialect itself. If you go to the 9th ward or Uptown, you'll hear a difference. You'll almost always hear people using words like dat, dey, dem, dere in the city. It has been that way for years.

Many people confuse it with ignorance, but that is ignorance on their own part. We're a different mixture of people, our own melting pot full of Haitians, Creoles, Italians, Jamaicans, Germans, French, Acadians, Spanish, and lots of others ... and we have our own language.

Who Dat has been part of our dialect long before the Bengals, the Saints, or even the NFL.

I know Utah likes to take credit for our Jazz, but hearing someone from Cincinnati think "dat" or "dey" is something Ohio invented in the '80s is outright silly.

"THE Chant" is totally UNinspiring! I'd be ashamed to admit I was motivated by anything so predictable and mundane.

I can count to 10 and rhyme. Let's see...HMMM...How old am I? 5?

Good BOY Drew.

'Git urself a new line before next season, 'cause this one will not carry you!

First let me start by saying "Who dat" has been used since the 1800's it was popular deep into the 1900S Where there are early black local new orleans music With titles containing who dat and who dat say.
As for the chant. The saints player had thier own personal chant. They had another, that they did in public or for media. The pre game one did not sound like the one they told the fans and media. Most fans knew they had a personal chant, but they didn't come clean until that night.
Those lucky fans heard it for the first time. And yes it was from some service men that taught him a chant that he liked and brought it to his team
