Paula Abdul Will Not Be Dancing With Any Stars

2/28/2010 5:30 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Paula AbdulWhen you wake up Monday morning to read the list of "stars" who will be on next season's "Dancing With the Stars" ... Paula Abdul's name will not be on it.

Sources close to Paula tell TMZ the former "American Idol" judge has decided against doing the show -- despite the giant bag of money ABC practically threw at her.

As we first reported, the alphabet net offered Paula a $1,000,000 development deal ... if she agreed to do "Dancing."

Paula is still in talks with Simon Cowell about joining his upcoming "X Factor" show.

Didn't she turn down much more money to just sit on American Idol and think everyone is great?

Doesn't she also have a bad back from an accident years ago? I don't think that would go over too well especially since it seems injuries are bound to occur even when the contestant is healthy and she seems somewhat fragile.

this proves her oars are out the water, unemployment is at 10% and she turns down a mil. dancing won't hurt ur back as bad as watching cloris leachman dance.

I am sure she turned down the contingency clause. She will do the show with Cowell so I doubt anything is a big deal. They just wanted here to save DWTS. I am sure it has to do with the cervical spine neck injuries she has suffered with chronically over the years. It is not her back, but you were close. She had an operation, got hooked on pain killers, but has gotten better over the years. She is just like anybody else. Good luck to her.

C'mon TMZ

I can't see what the difference is between American Idol and "X Factor... so why in the world does he want to bring the show over here?

They probably would'nt let her do other things I think that she wants to do more projects. People would have just beaten her down for being a professional dancer even thogh she is not a ballroom dancer she would not have been treated fairly. It's not like she's going to hungry or anything, besides the contract that Simon reportedly offered her is ok 4.5 million for about six months worth of work not bad and it makes me think that her leaving idol was never about the money and more about respect.

With her history of neck and back injuries. It's clear why she backed out.
The drugs she would need to take to get through it would be way tooooo much.

Dr. Conrad Murray would be needed to help her sleep at night and his hands are tied.

I think DWTS has seen its end. Firstly they have people on ther who are no where near equals. Gold medal winners, are far more agile then Jerry Springer. It is a joke!!! She has probably been offered much more money, from Simeon whom I think really likes Paula. She is a sweet person. I wish her the best.

Isn't the point of dancing with the stars to get a bunch of semi-celebs with two left feet to learn to dance each week and try not to look like fools? The celebs are suppose to have no to little dancing experience which is what makes it interesting.

Paula Abdul is not only a former Cheerleader but she was a dance choreographer... how would that make the competition fair?
