'Price Is Right' Suit - They Called Me 'Wide Load'

3/1/2010 8:30 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

A former "Price Is Right" model claims the show was so cruel about staffers becoming pregnant, she suffered a miscarriage from stress and abuse.

'Price Is Right

Brandi Cochran claims she became pregnant in 2007 but didn't tell anyone because she was afraid of getting fired. Brandi claims the stress was so severe, "that pregnancy ended in a miscarriage."

Brandi claims when she told a producer about the miscarriage, the producer told her, "It's natures way of getting rid of a bad baby."

In late 2008, Cochran became pregnant again. She claims, in the lawsuit filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, a producer put his hands on his head when he learned she was having twins.

In the docs, Brandi claims when she walked past a producer he said, "Wide load coming through."

Brandi says she had complications from the pregnancy and went on disability. She claims she was eventually squeezed out of her job on February 23.

Brandi was a prize model during Bob Barker's reign as well as Drew Carey's.

CBS had no comment on the lawsuit.

For those of you who are eager to dismiss Brandi as someone looking to make an easy buck, clearly you aren't knowledgable about the legal system. While it's true that anyone can sue anybody over anything, it's a huge risk, because if you lose, you're screwed. It's called Malicious Prosecution. Simply stated, if you sue someone and lose, at THE VERY LEAST you are now liable for all of the other party's legal fees and expenses (and in these big media suits that can be millions in legal fees). Then the person you sued can turn around and sue you for Malicious Prosecution based on the damages your lawsuit caused them. Just ask Bob Barker. After he fired model Holly Hallstrom he sued her for Slander and lost. As a result Barker was ordered to pay all of Hallstrom's legal fees, and she countersued including Malicious Prosecution, and she got MILLION$.

So I suspect that Brandi Sherwood has got a helluva case, to take on such a big conglomerate, and such a big risk. But I also suspect that her case will be resolved out of court, just like all those women Bob Barker fired that got paid big bucks to drop their suits against him.

And speaking of beautiful pregnant women hired to do a tv show, lets not forget Hunter Tylo. Pregnant Hunter vs. mega-producer Aaron Spelling... Tylo $5Million, Spelling nothing.

Boy oh boy, I would sure hate to have most of you posters as friends. Compassionate you are not! Not one of you know what it is like to work on that show or the personalities there, how they can pretend to be "friend & family" just to turn around behind your back and say so many mean things about you, and how fast some one can't wait to tell you about what was said. Stress is in any job and sometimes you can't afford to just walk away. Jobs are hard to find in this economy and in the entertainment business & modeling it is even harder. Would you be as hard on Brandi, who by the way is a very sweet and beautiful girl if this was your sister or some one you cared about. No one should have to go to work and we called a "wide load" or any other demeaining things, especially if you are pregnant. Believe me, Bob Barker may not be on that show any longer or his pet Roger the Rat, but the old mentality Barker enforced evidentally still lingers among the staffers that are still there. Sadly many on them have all been there so long they have forgotten how not to be catty and mean. Hopefully Drew will instill some morals in them, but it will be a slow process as the steady brainwashing they all received from the Barker Terror Years will be hard to overcome, if it is at all possible.

The best way to avoid these kinds of hostile workplaces is by doing research about potential bosses and employers on sites like eBossWatch.

wonwuknos you are mistaken.
Bob dropped his lawsuit for slander after Holly lost the first round of her lawsuit stating that he felt she had suffered enough. When Holly filed in reaction Bob did not pay any costs- the insurance company picked up that tab for court fees which wasn't that much.Holly would have lost that lawsuit had it stuck as there was plenty of evidence to support the slander allegation. Holly also at this time filed her appeal which was eventually settled out of court once all provisions against Bob was dropped from her lawsuit by a judge during the appellate process-which Holly would never disclose-which was the only reason why she settled. Bob wanted Freemantle to take her to court-again she's fortunate as she had no case-but Freemantle wanted to rid themselves of her.

grnetidiots Sorry dude, but Bob Barker was the loser. He lost his slander lawsuit aginst Hallstrom ("In the case of Barker v. Hallstrom, Hallstrom is declared the prevailing party." -Los Angeles Superior Court). A half dozen women sued Barker and got huge settlements. No provisions against Barker were ever "dropped" except as part of the settlement (that's why it's called a 'settlement'). Given the opportunity to proceed to a public court in the Hallstrom case, Barker instead settled, twice! No forensic accounting of how much Barker paid has ever been made public, so basically, all of your information is bogus. But you're not alone. What you heard is the Barker media spin version of what he wished would have happened, but didn't. Too bad for Bob, people didn't buy it, too many employees all testifying to the the same facts, too many lawsuits, and Bob got caught in way too many lies.

I can believe that Brandi was treated the way she claims, especially considering what is going on at TPIR now. Key people have been fired, including Rich Fields, the beloved announcer of the game show. I often think about Brandi and what happened to her. I know that Gwen, another model, was pregnant and came back, and I often wonder when Brandi will be back. The drama on this show is incredible! I'm glad I don't work there, lol. Anyway, rumor has it that Drew Carey lost a lot of weight, and I think that was a mistake. After all, he was a mildly funny fat guy, and now he is well just a mildly funny guy, with nothing to add to that. His fatness was his gimick and now, well, he's pretty much nothing.

The show's going down to a fall, and that's a shame. Blame that on the producers.

For all you posters talking about how she can't take a joke, what that producer said is...say it with me... WORKPLACE HARASSMENT which is ILLEGAL. Unlawful harassment is a form of discrimination that violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and other federal authority.

Unwelcome verbal or physical conduct based on race, color, religion, sex (whether or not of a sexual nature and including same-gender harassment and gender identity harassment), national origin, age (40 and over), disability (mental or physical), sexual orientation, or retaliation (sometimes collectively referred to as “legally protected characteristics”) constitutes harassment when:

The conduct is sufficiently severe or pervasive to create a hostile work environment; or

A supervisor’s harassing conduct results in a tangible change in an employee’s employment status or benefits (for example, demotion, termination, failure to promote, etc.).

You cannot, by law, force a woman into early maternity leave or deny her return to her job simply due to pregnancy. It's law folks. Based on this alone she certainly has grounds for a case she will need to prove.

For years it was The Price is Right's dirty secret that Bob Barker was a serial sexual harasser and that he created a hostile work environment for the women who were both the models and behind-the-scenes at the show. And he got away with it because he was protected by CBS and Goodson-Todman Productions, and now ultimately, Fremantle Media.

Let it play out in court . . .

Barker has a history of forcing out women he either has sex with, which he admitted, or for reasons of pregnancy. The show knows exactly what they did to all these woman then pretends it's the woman's fault. This is nothing new. IF their contract states they cannot work if they become pregnant that is one thing but I see no evidence that is the case. They just try to muscle out woman when they become pregnant. I hope they all sue and win.

Brandi if you read this "stuff" then know that it was I who sent you a congradulatory card in early March on the birth of your twins! I also encouraged your return to TPIR. Just lately I discovered the truth and realized how terrible your life has been these past months. I have tried to phone you and extend my sincere apology, however, you have seen fit to ignore my calls. Please accept my very sincere apology and the very best to you and yours.

Brandi Sherwood is a former Miss Teen USA in 1989 and former Miss USA 1997 she is former beauty queen in those days i know she is a role model for both titles and having them to call her that it was rude for former beauty queen but i understand about her stress like that is not her fault but she is honest to them and tell the truth but nobody can't treat former beauty queen like that.
