Oscar Win Hasn't Changed Mo'Nique, Or Her Legs

I understand some woman prefer to be natural, but if that was the case why would she turn around and paint her nails. I don't get it.

You look beautiful, Mo! Good job on the Oscar win and many more to come. There's nothing nasty or disgusting about leg hair. I don't know what in THE HELL is wrong with people. I guess they don't know any better.

She says she is in an "open marriage" meaning her husband "does" any female that isn't her. So of course he doesn't care if she shaves or not... as long as she doesn't take away his ATM card.

Many African American women do not shave their legs; it's cultural, and yes, most African American men think it's attractive. Just thought I'd educate you about this. African Americans have their own sub-culture within American society.

Along with the fat, she has some curves which looks a lot better than the anorexics.

Mo'Nique shouldn't HAVE to change for the oscars....or anyone else for that matter. She's a beautiful black woman who is real and staying true to herself! AND....she has an oscar! How many of you can say that?

This reminds me of an elderly lady years ago who appeared on "The People's Court" wearing hair curlers. Was she preparing for an appearance more important, more visible than national television?

Can we please stop with the "It's a black thing" rationale? It has NOTHING to do with blackness. It is about EDUCATION and CLASS. And NO, class and money are NOT the same. She is rich but has no formal education beyond high school, and it is evident in her speech, her diction, her vocabulary and yes, her appearance. She has been making money for years, but on the inside she is still the same uneducated ghetto woman she always was. In the GHETTO, shaving one's legs is not a priority. Her former world has been BLACK televison shows, BLACK standup audiences, and cheap BLACK films, so in THAT world, her look has been acceptable. But among a crowd of black attorneys, or doctors or MBA's (MY world), her look, speech and behavior would NOT be acceptable. It is a CLASS thing.

This has nothing to do with "Girl Power" or "Sister Power". She explained on The View, that she doesn't shave because she's lazy. She said she doesn't have time in the mornings, doesn't want to deal with cuts, band aids etc. She does however, shave her pits, gets her hair, nails, and toes done. So this is not about taking any kind of stand.

Untill the day she dies and long past she will be remembered as the "Oscar Winning Actress..." Which all Oscar winners are. However, for her the next comment to follow will be about her hairy legs. Such a sad way to to be remembered.
