Nicolas Cage

The Rolls Royce of Lawsuits

3/10/2010 8:58 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Nicolas Cage is getting sued for giving up a taste of the good life -- too early. Translation ... he allegedly broke the lease on two pricey Rolls Royce classics.

Nic Cage
Cage signed a 60-month lease agreement for a sweet 1964 Rolls Royce SCIII back in 2007. The monthly lease payment -- a cool $7,663.02. The ride was valued at $550,000.

But one Rolls is not how Nic rolled. Four months after leasing the '64, Nic leased a 2002 Rolls Royce Corniche. Again -- a 60-month lease with payments of $3,630.71. The car was worth $245,000.

In 2009, as Nic faced financial ruin -- he says because of a reckless financial manager -- Nic turned in both cars. The problem ... the lease wasn't over and the leasing company had to sell both cars.

So the leasing company is now suing Nic for the money they lost by selling the car wholesale. The company wants $104,490.68 for the '64 Rolls, and $137,077.06 for the '02.

We're told Nic's people are in the process of negotiating a settlement with the leasing company.

"In 2009, as Nic faced financial ruin -- he says because of a reckless financial manage" I spoke with Nic's financial manager and he informed me that it was Nic's out of control reckless spending that caused Nic's financial ruin and he ordered him to watch Suzie Orman and call he during her "Can I afford it" segment her if wants to spend more than $50 bucks.

What is wrong with these people? He has some serious issues going on. Sounds like most of the stars are in need of a financial adviser/planner. They are paid to much money anyway. Its a shame and waste

Leaseing is a racket and they jack the value and than sell the cars back to themselfs under value and than resale again or rent them.Nic don`t got the time to run and buy cars..he`s to busy so he sends someone to rent the cars.Nic make tons of money and to pay any back taxes would only take a movie or two..it`s a PR snowjob...they don`t like NIC-he didn`t join the churches system and his family and kids are raised outside the loop also,,they are slinging mud at him to force he back into the fold.

I like Nic cage, but how can he honestly blame his business manager for HIS extravagant spending?? He alone had to sign the contracts on all the material items he purchased/leased. I think he needs some professional help- maybe for people who shop too much.

What a F'n moron...leasing a car for payments that could PAY for the vehicle and he could OWN it instead of buying it for someone else...these guys surely have more money than brains. Why lease when you can buy...you own it and when you are done with it you sell it and most times make money. Do a little simple math...the money he was paying out would have bought and payed for the car...a tax thing...believe me it is not worth it in the long run...if you can afford it...pay for it. The warranty on these cars cover most everything so it is not a maintenance thing...what a moron...he deserves everything he gets....he needs someone who knows what to do with his money in a smart way. Leasing, unless you are a salesman who drives across the country 5 times a year it is not the way to go...especially when he may drive the car 1 or twice a year...what an idiot.

They are a total tax write off as he is a movie producer so on...he uses those cars to tranport professional people in the biz and for PR shots. If he payed for them than No 300,000 tax write off.Yes he could buy some and than resale them as owned by NIC but than he would have to make at least 300,000 off them,Very good biz move sorry to tell you`all

PLus if he owned them he would have to pay to ship them all around the world as all of his estate`s have estate cars...his bizness AD knows how the BIG LIFE goes and how to play things.Taxe write off`s as estate transport showhouses INC fly them in wine and dine them and they produce your movie and they are one hell of a tax write off as is having your own gas pumps on the estate and hiring employees to run thangs...IT IS SHOW BIZ and he is puting on the ritz to stay in biz.
