This guys wife is now probably doing the millionaires dance of joy for her "payday"....husband who? Sorry to be sarcastic but we all know its the truth...7.5 million for her alone so she can sit on her a** for the rest of her life? I can see the kid getting money for future college fund, etc, but payout to her was astronomical in my opinion, must of have great lawyers for this one... What did the odyguards family get, Im sure a FRACTIOn of this...and poor DJ AM well look where he is as well, ended up dead probably as a result of this crash....oh yeah Travis Barker is an a**

I love our country: A tragic accident equals winning the frigging lottery. I wonder how many hours the grieving relatives take before contacting lawyers and mentally shrieking: "CHA-CHINGG!!!!"

I'm glad to know that at least, even if Chris Barker is no longer around to support his family, that his wife and child will be will provided for in the settlement. I just hope that the rest of the people involved in the crash, especially the bodyguard got their fair share of the settlement made. As to people commenting that $12 million worth of damages is excessive -- human life is priceless. There will never be enough money in the world to compensate a child or a wife's loss of her husband. Likewise, the amount reached that high because there were several defendants held liable in the case, Clay Lacy Aviation, Goodyear Tire and Rubber, and Learjet among others.

the reason it is so high - is because they calculate what he was making and also account for what could have been if he survived - right down to the possibility to having more kids, therapy, etc.

i've seen these type of breakdowns before and they have to guesstimate to what their lives would be like.

sounds crazy but it is true and no the others most likely will not get the same - each ends up different.

the saddest thing is, this will not replace his Daddy.

And we wonder why our world as we know it is falling apart. Come on what the hell can a person possibly do with that much money. WHAT A JOKE! SOCIETY IS A JOKE! Just remember that in the end we the Citizens are the ones who pay these ridiculous settlements.
