DMX Gets Jail, But It's Dr. Drew to the Rescue

3/16/2010 4:14 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

DMX was just sentenced to six months in jail for violating his probation -- but rehab could save him from doing hard time.

DMX: Click to watch
DMX admitted to five separate probation violations -- the result of using illegal drugs.

During the hearing, a rep from the Pasadena Recovery Center gave the judge a letter from Dr. Drew Pinsky, asking permission to treat X at his facility ... in lieu of jail.

The judge seemed open to sending X to the PRC.

Yet again Dr,Drew recruits for the new season of "Celebrity Rehab" for the shake of ratings.

The nice thing about Drew's rehab is that you don't even have to stop taking drugs while there... just ask Kari Ann who failed every drug test she took while under Drew's care for sexual addiction.

Dr. Douche probably spends more time in a makeup chair than actually working with patients. He's an egomaniacal attention whore just like all the other pseudo celeb "physicians" before him (Joyce Brothers, Ruth Westheimer, etc...). If a suicidal patient called Drew Pinsky's office, this is likely what they'd hear:

"Hi! You've reached the office of Dr. Drew Pinsky...physician and therapeutic counselor to the stars!
I'm not in right now...probably off taping another appearance on "Oprah", working on my hit reality show, "Celebrity Rehab"...which is on tonight, by the way...or, just kickin' it poolside with my uber-delish cabana boy, Enrique. Anyhoo...just leave your name and number at the beep and I'll try to get back to you in the next few days or so. Toodles!"

Dr Drew is seriously disappointing. To put all of the kooks in the same room, and expect recovery belies the sham. Does he really expect those hard core addicts to recover after a 3 week stint? He put Heidi Fleiss and Tom Sizemore together, and allowed her to berate Tom repeatedly, as if that would not jeopardize Tom's recovery?

I'm so disappointed. The man obviously does not care about their true recovery, because those celebrities need 3 months of rehab, at least.

Before you judge DMX look at his life. Didn't know his father and his mother abandoned him and he grew up in and out of group homes. Who would you be if you grew up like that? He's a drug addict not a criminal.

Dr. Drew is a real doctor. He is treating celebrities to bring light to addiction and help others not go down that path. I'm surprised people seem so angry at him. Out of all the weirdos in hollywood he seems like a rare voice of reason.

Bubba, If you're talking about the incidents mentioned in the LA Times article, You should know that they happened at Aurora Las Encinas Hospital not PRC. Read the story here:,0,4242886.story

Although the Pasadena Recovery Center has found a niche on admitting celebrities into their facilities. They're still a legitimate business with good intentions. See their site here:

Pretty sad but I think not much will help DMX but a long term rehab (not with Dr. Drew!) or jail. Just watched his Behind the Music and had no idea he'd been struggling with crack addiction since he was 14 years old. That's half his life which will make it a hard habit to break. But, good luck to him. Hate to see anyone (famous or not) unable to control themselves and spiraling.
