Michael Jackson Estate

Inks Record,

Record Deal

3/16/2010 9:10 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0630_mj_exd_tmz_06-1TMZ has confirmed the Michael Jackson estate has signed the biggest deal ever in music -- worth up to $250 million with a guarantee of $200 million.

The estate made the deal with Sony Music Entertainment -- the contract is for 10 projects over seven years.

One album will debut in November, which contains never-before released recordings. We're told Jackson left enough material for at least three albums of fresh material.

A source tells TMZ the royalty rate on foreign sales is the key to the deal -- and 2/3 of the sales of MJ records traditionally have been outside the U.S.

And we're told Sony gets a two-year extension for the right to distribute the Michael Jackson catalog -- to 2017.

The deal has nothing to do with The Beatles' catalog -- it's all about MJ original recordings.

The agreement was brokered by John Branca and John McClain, executors of the MJ estate.

Every time I see you post, you are making comments about Michael's genitalia, or his sexual preferences, etc. You're a twisted, sick individual.

Better Than You

Sony (Epic) promoted Off The Wall, Thriller, Bad, Dangerous, History helping earn Michael Jackson a fortune.

Okay, perhaps they dropped the ball a little on Invincible, but that doesn't make they evil.

*** BRILLIANT MOVE! been awaitin for this one.

Michael Jackson has given the OK to Branca/Sony and made the move to unleash his unreleased work upon the world before his actual death...BUT after his "death".

At least 3/4 more generations of Michael Jackson fans will be guaranteed plenty of work to listen to (cds/movies/dvds) watch/cry/bleed/swoon over.

This SHOULD tide him over until Michael Jackson/he really dies. Maybe! (if not he'll have to "die" again!! omg)

BRILLIANT! BRILLIANT!

The deal will combine a mix of previously unreleased songs and new packages of familiar ones, according to the report.

Sony's deal with the estate retroactively covers the soundtrack album to "This Is It." It also covers a number of other releases, some of which have been planned and others that still must be determined, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Sony has sold about 31 million of Jackson's albums worldwide since his death on June 25, 2009, the report said. It added that the advances Sony will pay are to be offset by sales of albums as well as revenue generated by licensing Jackson's music.

One album of previously unreleased songs is likely to hit stores before the end of this year, and another collection is due out later, it said.

The estate of Michael Jackson has landed the late King of Pop the biggest recording deal in history: a $200 million guaranteed contract with Sony Music Entertainment for 10 projects over seven years, according to a person familiar with the deal.

The record-breaking contract through 2017 could be worth up to $250 million if certain conditions are met. One of the albums will be of never-before-released Jackson recordings that will come out in November, the person said.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the official announcement is expected Tuesday.

Future projects may also include a DVD compilation of videos and a re-release of "Off the Wall," Jackson's fifth studio album, which first came out in 1979, accompanied by some unreleased material. Before his sudden death in June at age 50, the pop star had wanted to re-issue the album, people familiar with the deal said.

It's Jordan! He just hates it when there's news about Michael, and I think he still wishes he was a part of MJ someway and somehow. All he has left is memories and he's pissed!

52. THIS IS Utah

Posted at 11:53PM on Mar 15th 2010 by OhWell

I have been to Utah, actually a few places there. Some nice mountains, some desert, didn't like Salt Lake City so much. Really didn't spend much time there; my brother, sister and I were driving to Washington state for a wedding so it was a short visit.
