Michael Jackson -- Strong Stimulant Found

4/7/2010 9:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

There may be a clear explanation as to why Michael Jackson had trouble sleeping the night before he died -- authorities found a pill bottle in the room containing tablets that would have hyped the singer up big time.

The bottle, which had no label, contained 13 tablets. Each tablet had a combination of ephedrine, caffeine and aspirin. The commercial sale of ephedrine -- a stimulant designed for weight loss -- is banned in the U.S. because of reports of heart attacks, strokes and even death.

Each pill contained 25 mg of ephedrine, 200 mg of caffeine and 80 mg of aspirin. The caffeine alone in each pill is equivalent to nearly a 6-pack of Coca-Cola.

One company that manufactures the drug warns against using it past mid-afternoon, because it will cause insomnia.

According to the toxicology results, ephedrine was present in Jackson's urine.

This is garbage! I just can't believe that Michael is taking this kind of pills in order to loose weight. Michael can't sleep the night because of the pressure he has to endure. And don't forget that Michael suffers from lupus and one of symptom of this disease is the insomnia. So please stop the lies. We just don't believe in them...

Why in the hell as a complaining insomniac would you take such pills. How contradictory is that? What a moron.

@ TMZ : could you be completely accurate and state WHERE those pills were found ???? In Dr Murray's bag, weren't they ???

Just stop commenting on that and wait till the trial begins.

You may not like MJ, but what happened should never have happened.

From what it seems at this stage, he was just not monitored properly, and not ressucitated fast enough.

Nothing to do with a supposed addiction, or eccentric behavior.

The story about Coke was a lie but the fans & stupid Jacksons instantly believed it.

Everyone could see MJ thought he was SO smart & great & healthy.
You could look at his clueless smile & see that he saw nothing wrong with some friends, doctors, cosmetic surgeons & drugs.
No surprise that Jermaine allowed MJ to get sick & overworked in concerts. He let hum destroy his nose
& chin which caused MJ's impulsive begging for ephedrine, anti-depressants & a hospital/surgery drug Propofol.
The brothers & Janet didn't care about him then they faked how much they loved him. BS

NO matter how much you want to blame Michael Jackson for his own death, HE DIDNT DIE because he overdose himself or because he was an addict, as you want to portray him. HE DIED OF ACUTE PROPOFOL INTOXICATION AND BENZODIACEPINE EFFECT: HOMICIDE-INJECTION BY ANOTHER. The autopsy report is VERY CLEAR in this matter. The amount of Ephedrine shown in the toxicology screen is very low (presented only in his urine NOT in his blood and this is a non contibuting factor in his death. Plus THERE IS NO CAFFEINE present in his whole BODY!!!!!

PROPOFOL is PRESENT in all his body, his liver, his heart, his feromal blood, even in his vitreous humor is REMARKABLY present. Also Lidocaine, Diazepam, Nordiazepam, Lorazepam, Midazolam, were found in his system (According to the Summary of Postivive Toxicological Findings of the A.R.)in very HIGH doses and ridiculous combinations. Murray was administering them, consciously deciding over his patient, he IS THE EXPERT IN MEDICINE who knows well the doses, interactions, side effects, minimal safety requirements and precautions, NOT MICHAEL. Murray was hired to MEDICAL advise his patient and to protect his life and health, NOT TO KILL HIM.

Besides the Anesthesiology Consultation in the autopy report is very conclusive and clear:
1. Was the standard of care for giving propofol met? It is not known whether trainded medical personnel were continuously observing the decendent while propofol given. There was no evidence of an infusion pump for control of an IV infusion. No monitors were found at the scene; a blood pressure cuff and portable pulse oximeter were recovered from a closet in the next room. A tank of oxygen with some kind of non rebreathing bag with a clear plastic mask (for positive ventilation) was near where the patient was found by the paramedics. This tank was empty when examined on 7-13-09. A non rebreathing bag was not attached when the tank was examined. Multiple opened bottles of propofol were found, with small amounts of remaining drug. A used bottle shoud be discarded 6 hours after opening, to avoid possible bacterial growth. The standard of care for administering propofol WAS NOT MET.

2. Could the decendent have given propofol to himself? It is unknown where the propofol physically came from. It would have been difficult for the patient to administer the drugs (others besides propofol were administered) to himself, given the configuration of the IV set/up. The IV catheter was in the left leg. the injection port of the IV tubing was 13.5 cm from the tip in the catheter. He would have to bend his knee sharply or sit up to reach the injection port and push the syringe barrel, an awkward situation, especially if sleep was the goal. If only bolus injection via a syringe were used, sleep would not have been maintained, due to the short action of propofol. someone with medical knowledge or experience would have started the IV. anyone could have drawn up and administered the medications after the IV was started.

3. What is an anesthesiologist's view point on the toxicology screen results? The levels of propofol found on toxicology exam are similar to those found during general anesthesia for major surgery (intra-abdominal) with propofol infusions, after a bolus induction. During major surgery, a patient with these blood levels of propofol would be INTUBATED AND VENTILATED BY AN ANESTHESIOLOGIST, AND ANY CARDIOVASCULAR DEPRESSION WOULD BE NOTED AND TREATED.
Anesthesiologists would also comment on the presence of other sedative drugs in the toxicolgoy screen. LORAZEPAM, A LONG-ACTING BENZODIACEPINE, IS PRESENT AT PHARMACOLOGICALLY SIGNIFICANT LEVEL AND WOULD HAVE ACCENTUATED THE RESPIRATOY AND CARDIOVASCULAR DEPRESSION OF PROPOFOL.

There are no traces or build ups of any other drugs, besides Murray's, in Michael's organs. There are no damages in his organs -like the liver- which would be consistent with a drug abuser or a person who had been taken drugs for a long period of time. Nothing.

Stop with the BS, lies and speculation.

I wonder if Michael Jackson has learned anything from his bad choices and their destructiveness and is finally drug free and taking care of his health? And continuing to stay away from young boys. I hope so.

Party 'till you die!

Ephedrine, the base ingredient for making meth. It figures he would be into that.

thanks Carlos.

TMZ posted the coroner's report on this site.

How strange that they did not even bother to read it ???

Mj may have been an addict, weird, whatever. There might have been 10 000 reasons for that.

That did NOT kill him.

Does that mean that if it is proven that Dr Murray made a huge mistake, then it's OK because his patient was weird ???

Wow.

This IS scary. Scarier than Michael Jackson.

By the way, everyone should listen to "is it scary" or read the lyrics if you don't like MJ;

TMZ, your report was genuine, you would have included how many if any tablets were missing from the packet.
What is the purpose of your story.....are you trying to put ideas into the heads of a potential jury or something?

This is the height of stupidity! Remember, we got the 2 stories that listed all the meds found at Michael's house. Ephedrine was always listed on the report but it WAS NOT FOUND IN MICHAEL'S BLOODSTREAM! And for the reading impaired I will spell out the meaning--HE DID NOT USE EPHEDRINE IN THE DAYS BEFORE HE PASSED. Of course he may have used them in the past to wake up and be more alert for rehearsals. Of course, it's not a good choice for someone with Insomnia, but it would be used to counteract the drowsy feeling from the sleeping aids.
Let me say it again, THE ONLY DRUGS FOUND IN MICHAEL's bloodstream was the ones Murray gave him...
BTW--I am seriously praying for many of you on here who have no sense than to trash the good name of a man who stood for humanitarianism and L.O.V.E....
Kudos Carlos and Bunny for you words of wisdom--it restored my faith in mankind!!
