Nike Resurrects Tiger's Dad for New Commercial

4/7/2010 7:08 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Tiger Woods is being scolded by his father from beyond the grave -- in a new Nike commercial that can only be described as an artsy PR effort to humanize the golfer.

In the ad, Tiger stands stoically as the voice of his deceased dad, Earl Woods, urges his son to reflect on his life.

As we first reported, Tiger shot the commercial on March 25 on the Isleworth Country Club golf course in his neighborhood in Windermere, Florida.

What next, Nike? Desperate much? Why not let the poor dead man rest. This is so obvious and ridiculous.

This Nike ad is just one more choreographed, pathetic attempt to resurrect the image of a troubled jerk....so that said jerk and Nike can continue to make a truck-load of money off of a naive public. I'd be a lot more inspired to purchase Nike products if one of their executives would piss on Tiger in full view of the public; just as Tiger expressed to one of his mistresses his desire to urinate on her.

hmmm

I think it's wrong to use his father like that but if he thinks it was the right thing to do... whatever. IDGAF I don't watch Golf anyway. it's the most boring game in the world.

Great work and comment Kooki Da Vinci! Let's get real folks. Tiger's star fell into a giant black hole in the universe some time ago now.... This is just Nike trying to create a buzz around the man's fall, without dropping him or dissin' him. Obviously it's working. Cos even tho I (and many others) find him fascinating solely because of his fall - it shows he's like us, he's human - he's basically a caveman, par excellence. There's guy's who fool around with a woman, and now, there's Tiger. The guy who set himself up as a paragon and then, it turns out, was out on the town with the porn star, waitress, and a whole bunch of others team.....

Nike using his late Dad's voice? Wow. It's like a peek into the psyche of the original neanderthal man: guys who play around like Earl did, and...like father like son, yeah? But also, I find myself wondering how Earl would feel about being resurrected like this.
