Mel Gibson Divorce - Goodbye, But Not Farewell

4/8/2010 9:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

With all the strife in celebrity marriages these days, our sources say the marriage between Mel Gibson and Robyn is coming to a very amicable end ... but in reality the pair will be in business long after the divorce is final.

We're told Mel and Robyn have agreed on pretty much every big issue. In fact, it's so smooth, a judge isn't even involved yet. Instead, Mel and Robyn are using lawyers, accountants and business managers to hash out a settlement.

There is one complicating factor: The large majority of the couple's assets are in the form of houses and other non-liquid property. Robyn will get roughly half in the property settlement. The problem is -- property doesn't pay the bills month to month, and it's a bad time to sell.

Nevertheless ... the suits are busy valuing the assets, and we're told everything should be settled in the next two months.

But the divorce won't be the end of their relationship. We're told Mel doesn't have the ready cash to buy Robyn out of Icon Productions, his film company. So the plan is for both of them to stay in business together after the marriage ends.

So it is possible to end a long marriage without going to court every five minutes.

1/3 First, MG and his wife both state in the divorce papers that they parted in 2006. That sheds a different light on the supposed deceit of his wife two years later. The fact alone that they are on friendly terms disputes it. And reporters are digging for dirt.
Also, people should not misrepresent their personal opinion that MG is a hot-headed bigot as a rational fact. That is a prejudiced notion. First, one has to believe that people are never unfair, or that drunk people are never unfair, to consider the type of event that took place in 2006 proof that a person is a bigot - and such an ignorant view makes one an unfit judge in any case. Secondly, this incident was in reality a once in a lifetime event in over 50 years of life that shouldn't be misrepresented as the opposite, a characteristic trait. When people twist a point to make a point not only do they not have a point, they also cast doubt on their own motives and/or ability to reason in a sound way. Is it unlikely a person would have taken cheap shots under the circumstances MG was in at the time? No. Who wouldn't feel bullied if ever arrested, it's an instinctive reaction to having our freedom taken away. And when are we most likely to take a cheap shot? When we feel bullied ourselves. Additionally, when is it most likely that we would give in to that type of emotion .. (see 2/3)

The fact alone that they are on friendly terms now disputes it. And reporters are digging for dirt. Prejudice is built on skipping relevant information. And this is very relevant information.
Also, people should not misrepresent their personal opinion that MG is a hot-headed bigot as a rational fact. That is a wrongful notion. How nice to see that two people can get divorced through mediation and not the court because when it comes to divorce in our country the court systems sucks!!! The judges are in bed with the lawyers and if anyone denies it they are blind and ignorant! Check out the court system in Charlotte North Carolina as an example (www.nccourtwatch.com.) Check out the book "THe CAse Against Lawyers"by Catherine Crier. My brother is getting divorced, no assets but a child to fight over and even his (decent)lawyers are telling him to make mediation work; don't go to court! Why is it always the guy that gets the short end of things when it comes to divorce - they get blamed and they get less time with the child? My brother is divorcing a total beast of a woman; he didn't cheat but he probably would have had he stayed married and no one would blame him! And as far as the Gibsons, no one but them knows what led to the demise of the marriage!!

Good for them that they are not in a tug of war, but seriously, how long do we need to keep hearing about their highly publizied divorce, onward and upward. Could someone tell me some one's else's divorce that was so public. if it were you or me no one would care.

Screw Mel Gibson. He's a sell-out who has been seduced by a spawn of the devil. Mel is a no-good, dirty drunken loser now. Rot in hell Mel.

I wish that Mel's kids and Robyn would get together and make a movie on Mel's life all the truth, behind closed doors, in the home.

I hope there is someone in Mexico with a camera who will catch him smoking, drinking, and carrying on with some woman.

SusieqinBA I don't understand your questions. No one here has hired a detective to follow him around. But why wouldn't his girlfriend be where he is if he's on location for a long time? It's not like she's a working mother with a full time job so just assume they're together most of the time since they're a couple, my guess engaged.

I doubt Mrs. Gibson will make any movies. It's probably in her divorce agreement not to squeal and she seems very private anyway.
