Ben Roethlisberger Officially Suspended

4/21/2010 2:00 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Ben Roethlisberger Officially Suspended Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has just  received a SIX game suspension from the NFL for violating the league's Personal-Conduct Policy.

A spokesperson for the NFL announced that Ben has been informed of the decision.

Officials claim the suspension could be reduced to 4 games, if NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell sees fit.

Ben will not be paid for the games he will miss -- which means he could lose nearly $3 million if he misses all six.

Along with the suspension, Ben will also have to undergo a comprehensive behavioral evaluation.

In a letter to Roethlisberger, Commish Goodell told Ben, "There is nothing about your conduct in Milledgeville that can remotely be described as admirable, responsible, or consistent with either the values of the league or the expectations of our fans.”

I wonder if the 20 year girl will receive consequences for being pee drunk, stalking an NFL player from bar to bar, then changing her story about the incident because she really doesnt remember what happened? Probably not. Thats how screwed up our legal system is. Posted at 11:37 AM on Apr 21, 2010 by bewildered *********

You have the legal system confused with the NFL. And the only person who has ever said that the girl changed her statement is the same cop who "resigned" in Georgia who took the initial verbal statement. Both statements she gave in writing are consistent, even though one is barely legible because she was drunk.

45. Douche bag or not, he wasn't even charged. That's the bottom line.

********

The bottom line is that he wasn't suspended for anything legal. He was suspended for violating the NFL Personal Conduct Policy and for "conduct detrimental to the NFL".

Another bottom line is that having an NFL contract is rather like being in the military in terms that they own you. If they think that your behavior and choices reflect badly upon them, they have the contractual right to smack you down.

Man, all of you who are wondering why he was suspended when he wasn't charged criminally. By a f'n clue. Ben signed a multi-million dollar contract. That contract governs his behavior 24/7/365 because he's a role model and any negative actions reflect poorly on the Steelers and the NFL. Whether or not he raped her nobody questions that he was out bar hopping and it ended with his skank boy drunken ass having sex in a bar bathroom with a drunk girl he doesn't even know, who immediately said he raped here. Gee i wonder why they suspended him? And this isn't even the first time this has happened to him! What a wonderful role model and asset to the NFL's image he is! /sarcasm If this is the white trash "jersey shore" lifestyle Ben wants to live he should have thought twice before signing that NFL contract! They own his ass and they're going to make him pay for doing dumbass crap like this. Criminal charges filed or not, they own his ass. That's the bargain he made and he needs to start living up to it, or else.

Criminally he's innocent until proven guilty. But contractually the Steelers own his ass and as long as he keeps acting like a bad boy they're going to bend him over and rape him for violating his contractual obligations, as they should. Good for them!

You have a dumb jock who thinks he is above the law and keeps putting himself in these situations because of so called "Poor Judgement. Lets call it what it is "Poor character and lack of decency and morals". If Big Ben was treated like a regular citizen he would be in jail and getting what he deserves by another rapist and to see what it feels like to be demoralized. This trend is not a coincidence but a pattern of what a could be a sexual predator but because he is an NFL player he is treated above the law. What a sad message to send to young people and the world if the allegations are true. Its possible he is really a thug, rapist and sexual predator. He may possible need serious help because you cannot fix what you do not acknowledge. There are too many enablers out there because of his status.

difference is that tiger didn't rape anyone. i mean the fact that ben lied and made up some story of the girl falling and hitting her head, pretty much makes him look really really guilty. the doctors never found any signs of bruising to her head. the guy belongs in jail. they should make a law that rapists can be pursued in court regardless of whether the victim files charges bc most victims don't. they changed the law for domestic violence...

Are you kidding me. Six games suspended and zero legal charges. Rape----apparently, the police did NOT think so. So Goodell can suspend people for bad behavior. This is a terrible precedent. While I don't condone the behavior, getting suspended for 6 games is nuts.

If 4 of the 6 game suspension are pre season games.....it's not penalty enough.

Why does Ben even have a house near Milledgeville? I've been on Lake Oconee several times and it isn't anywhere near one of the nicest lakes or lake areas in Georgia let alone the South. If I'm a star QB with a 100 million$ contract there is no way I'm buying down there. Why in the world does he own a home down there?
