Ben Roethlisberger Officially Suspended

4/21/2010 2:00 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Ben Roethlisberger Officially Suspended Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has just  received a SIX game suspension from the NFL for violating the league's Personal-Conduct Policy.

A spokesperson for the NFL announced that Ben has been informed of the decision.

Officials claim the suspension could be reduced to 4 games, if NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell sees fit.

Ben will not be paid for the games he will miss -- which means he could lose nearly $3 million if he misses all six.

Along with the suspension, Ben will also have to undergo a comprehensive behavioral evaluation.

In a letter to Roethlisberger, Commish Goodell told Ben, "There is nothing about your conduct in Milledgeville that can remotely be described as admirable, responsible, or consistent with either the values of the league or the expectations of our fans.”

Couldn't be happier. This guy's a wreckless rotten person. Don't let the door hit you on the way out when the Steelers trade you, Ben. And then when the next team cuts you.

It's shocking how many people on this board do not understand nor grasp the concept of a business contract and the NFL's code of conduct. It's beyond shocking. I lead a pretty good life, am a property owner, pay my taxes, conduct myself well, and am educated. So I live in a bubble I guess, where I presume all people are reasonably smart, too. And that they understand that the NFL does own its players 24/7/365 and that a moral and conduct code has been broken ~ twice. Are you all hillbillies? What gives? Do you not have a single clue about business?

I truly believe he raped that girl and its unfortunate she didn't want to continue with the case so that he would be prosecuted. Yes, the loss of $$$ will hurt him but he should be punished like any other member of society would be. I think the fact that its a 6 game suspension (which I think will probably get reduced to 4 games, though I hope it doesn't) shows that Gooddell also thinks Ben is guilty. He'll probably be on his best behavior from now on, but for that young girl its too late.

really bored...

I hope he learns his lesson this time, but as the saying goes, once a sex offender always a sex offender!

Not entirely fair, IMO. He does need to stay out of bars and away from girls looking to cash in,
no matter how much they come on to him.
But, c'mon. Michael Vick is a convicted felon who is allowed to play after serving prison time!
And I'm sure there are others.

Big Ben is the victim here. The girl in question carried a fake id, was dressed provocatively, and was drunk. Can a rape happen under those cir***stances? No. She made a choice when she left her home that evening. From that point on, she should have to live with her choice. If doesn't matter if she was crying and begging her to stop. She lost the right to say no when she looked at herself in sexy clothing in the mirror at home, and decided to go out into public anyway. She lost the right when she drank her third drink. Big Ben has huge responsibilities. He carries the weight of the entire Pittsburgh Steelers on his shoulders. He carries the dreams of the entire city of Pittsburgh on his throwing arm. And the two off-duty police officers who where working as his bodyguards that night has responsibilities, too. They were not working as cops that night. They had no obligation to allow the girls friends to "get her out of that locked bathroom because she was too drunk to be in there." They had not obligation to prevent the girl from being "raped". Their only obligation was to protect Ben Roethlisberger, and that's what they did. I'm not saying we should "blame the victim" but we should realize that there are victims on both sides here. It's a bit like accusing a Catholic priest of "child molestation" for responding to the temptations of overly sexual adolescents. Kids grow up mighty fast nowadays. You've all seen provocative dressed so-called minors. Just because someone is ten or twelve or fourteen years old, that doesn't mean they can't be a sexual aggressor. Can you be so certain that the lonely Catholic priest you condemn for "child" molestation isn't the victim himself. And can you be so certain that Ben Roethlisberger and his two bodyguards, instead of being a rapist and two accessories, are actually the victims themselves? Ben Roethlisberger has won two Super Bowls. Is that a bad thing? Does it make him guilt of rape? Not in my book.

If you believe that Ben Roethlisberger raped that girl, just because she was too drunk to give consent; just because his bodyguard physically carried her to the stool outside the bathroom; just because his bodyguards prevented her friends from taking her out of the locked bathroom; just because the surveillance tapes were accidentally erased after they were shown to the initial investigating officer; just because the girl left the room crying and bleeding from the vagina; just because eleven minutes after she left the club she flagged down a police car and told them she had been raped; then you are jumping to conclusions. The fact that there was not enough DNA proves that Ben did not rape her, not that he simply didn't ejaculate. The fact that no charges were pressed proves that he did not rape he, not that she was afraid of toxic, intrusive press attention for years to come; the fact that she carried a fake id, was drunk, and was dressed provocatively proves that she was not raped, or, if raped, she deserved it; the fact that she flirted with Big Ben proves that she was not raped, because flirtation constitutes consent; the fact that Big Ben has not been traded from the Steelers proves that she was not raped, because Art Rooney II, the owner of the Steelers has publically said that he has strict standards of behavior for his players. Remember this, it's wasn't too long ago that Big Ben won a Super Bowl with a pass thrown to an African-American teammate. That teammate was let go by the Steelers recently for having thrown a glass a girl. Unforgiveable. Ben Roethlisberger, however, is white, not African-American, and he is a quarterback, not a receiver. Hence, by definition, the girl was not raped. Why can't you critics of Big Ben, the bodyguard cops, Art Rooney II, and the rest of the Steeler organization see logic.

And let's not insult Ben Roethlisberger by comparing him with Tiger Woods. That is a foul and nasty comparison. Yes, Tiger Woods only had sex with consensual partners, and Ben Roethlisberger had sex with two drunk women who were crying during intercourse, begging him to stop, but, remember, Tiger Woods is of mixed-race and, by all appearances African-American, and the women with who he had sexual relations were all white. Ben Roethlisberger is, of course, white. Which is worse? An African-American man having consensual sexual relations with white women, or a white man having non-consensual relations with white women. Duh. If Tiger Woods had done what Ben Roethlisberger did, especially in Georgia, he's be sitting in jail right now. Ben Roethlisberger is white and speaks with a southern accent. If Tiger Woods had taken a drunk white girl into a bathroom, locked the door, and had sex with her while she cried and begged him to stop, while his off-duty cop bodyguards prevented the girl's friends from getting her out of there, do you think the club's surveillance tapes would have been accidentally erased after they were reviewed by the initial investigating police officer, who happens to be white? Hmmmm, let me think about that. Our society is a mess. Ben Roethlisberger is a mess. And Art Rooney II,the owner of the Steelers is the biggest mess of all for keeping a thug like Roethlisberger on his team. Art Rooney II is a racist and a coward.
