Trump: Bret Michaels in 'Big, Big Trouble'

4/26/2010 1:06 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Donald Trump tells TMZ Bret Michaels is in "big, big trouble and the prognosis is not great."

Michaels is a contestant on this season's "Celebrity Apprentice" and, ironically, Trump says Michaels' scrappiness is the best thing he has going for him.

As Trump put it, "He turns out to be an amazing competitor and ultimately that is the thing that could save his life."

Trump, who is in touch with people in the hospital where Michaels remains in critical condition, thinks Michaels' fall on stage back in 2009 -- where he hit his head -- may have something to do with the recent turn of events, though we can't confirm this from Michaels' people.

From what they are saying Trump could be right. It's hard to say if the head on collision could be the cause. When my grandpa hit his head he lived about only 5 months and than he died. I do wonder if they missed something when his head was hit. :(

Donald Trump should stick to "business". Since when did he become an expert in neurology? He should just shut up since he doesn't know what he is talking about ~~

He's probably in contact with well informed sources because he's got a contract for Brett's appearances on the show. Even if Brett has been fired in one of the prerecorded episodes not yet aired, they often bring back ppl for the live finale.

Trump isn't saying anything new here--it's been clear in all reports that Brett is in big trouble, and people have speculated about the Tony accident since this hit the news. Trump and NBC probably have consulted specialists to get an idea on whether or not Brett will be able to return.

I sincerely hope that Bret recovers, but at the same time, I sincerely hope that he will retire and we won't have to see his ugly mug on TV, or anywhere else, anymore. He is a has been, and his shows are TERRIBLE.

If you want to know about bad toupees, ask The Donald. If you want to know about subarachnoid bleeds, ask someone in the medical field. The hit to his head occurred too long ago to be associated with the bleed (10 months).

I hate to say it, but I was wondering if that accident at the Tony's could have any connection. I have had a family friend with this type of injury who never fully recovered and sadly passed away eventually. He was much older so I'm pulling for Bret and hoping his age is a positive. Yeah so he was a rocker but if you watch him on Celebrity Apprentice, you would have seen in last nights episode that he is in pretty good shape. I don't know how fair it is to say that just because he diabetes this was the result. I have also have a family member who had a car accident and several months later was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery for a brain hemorrhage. Head injury's are very fickle. Hope he makes a full recovery! Rock on!

FTR - this sort of brain injury is not uncommon in diabetics. Lost my kid brother, a diabetic, to a brain aneurism when he was only 23 years old. He initially suffered a stroke, resulting in slurred speech and slight paralysis. Ten days later a brain aneurism took his life. To blame this on the rock and roll lifestyle is idiotic. Diabetes is a complex disease that impedes healing, decreases circulation and affects many bodily systems. My brother was not a drinker, took no drugs, and managed his diabetes. That didn't save him from death.

Maybe if everyone would stop sending the negative energy he would get well. The stage deal does not have to happen to cause a brain hemorage. what he has is survivable. He is in an excellent hospital that is limping him along because the process is slow. Do him a big favor and send healing thoughts and prayers.

Trump doesn't know what he's talking about. There's no way an aneurism or any other brain bleed would result from a fall the patient took a year ago. A slow bleed is considered one that occurs over weeks, rather than days or hours.
But pullin' for Brett all the same.
