Madonna Journals

Yanked from Online Auction

5/5/2010 5:01 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

A multi-million dollar online auction for a lot of Madonna's old private journals came to a grinding halt Monday -- thanks to a last minute intervention from Madge's reps.

Madonna Journals
The mystery man behind the auction -- who claims he obtained the 12 journals and other Madge memorabilia in a blind auction -- tells TMZ, eBay removed his listing around 10AM Monday morning ... because a rep for the singer was able to convince eBay that "they" were the rightful owners.

A rep from eBay confirmed they did receive a claim from Madonna's camp and have since pulled the auction from their site.

As for the seller, he's still adamant that the stuff belongs to him. He's also pissed because he's expecting to rake in at least $2.5 million from the sale.

So far, no comment from Madonna's camp.

The journals would be very repetitive anyway:
Monday - blue Warren
Tuesday - blue Sean
Wednesday - blue Lenny
Thursday - blue JFK Jr.
Friday - blue Canseco
Saturday - blue Rodman
Sunday - rested...then blue A-rod.

My guess is that Madonna thought these items were safe in storage somewhere under her own name and trusted her "people" to keep up payments.

Maybe there's a good case for getting the journals returned if it can be proven that by putting the items in storage under her own name, the assistant effectively stole them? I guess we'll see.

You can NOT legally purchase stolen property, not when it is stolen, or 20 years later.

How is it stolen property when the storage facility was not paid up and become the property of the storage facility owners.

@LisaHill

Theoretically, if the assistant put stolen property in the storage unit and then defaulted on payment for the facility, the items still remain "stolen property", regardless of who's hands they are currently in.

The theft would have allegedly occurred when the assistant put the items in storage. The items would have been stolen property at that point and would remain so, until returned to the rightful owner.

At first Madonna's reps said the Journals were not real, so that ends it. Madonna is full of it.

SCREW E-BAY

Get Random House or some other publisher to buy the rights $$$$ and PUBLISH her ****. He obtained that property legally.

If those journals were SO important, why were they left in a storage unit, forgotten.

Hey @SaraBellum

In the United States, most self storage facilities hold storage auctions or lien sales to vacate non-paying tenants according to their enforcement rights that are outlined within the laws of each state. In California there are 2900 plus self storage facilities, out of these 2900 plus self storage facilities there are an average 800 facilities that will hold a storage auction or lien sale in any given month. Each site will have a different amount of units or lots to offer for auction. We estimate that over $3,000,000.00 changes hands at these 9,000 plus auctions a year. These auctions are opened to the general public with most bidders’ buying for the purpose of reselling for profit. Storage auctions are a great way to buy secondhand merchandise for pennies on the wholesale dollar. If you are someone who sells at flea markets, garage sales or on e-Bay, you will probably find storage auctions to be one of your best sources for merchandise.

The guy tells TMZ the storage unit
used to belong to Madonna's first assistant Melissa Crow -- who, according to the owner of the storage facility, fell behind on her monthly payments and therefore forfeited her rights to the property. So ... the guy was able to nab it all for a whopping $150.

I see anything saying they were stolen!

@LisaHill: It was just speculation of how they could have gotten Ebay to cancel the auction. I don't think anyone said they were stolen.

It is kind of weird that an Ex-Assistant would have possession of such items of a personal nature. IMO.

I thought her reps originally claimed that those were NOT her journals. Yea, right! If they aren't hers, then they wouldn't care if they were sold (and viewed).

He should scan every single page onto a computer and burn them on a bunch of backup disks, just in case. I think it would be funny as hell for them to be sold, and published uncensored. Madonna is a Bitch, and I would absolutely love to see her publicly humiliated, like the old hag she is, deserves.

Hilarious! The fat pig who bought the contents of an auction can't speak about Madonna items anymore. Ha! Have a great day and don't forget to have yourself a heart attack while eating a greezy burger. :)
