'Survivor' Producer -- Custody Fight Brewing

5/24/2010 10:49 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0511-survivor-exThe sister of Monica Burgos Beresford-Redman tells TMZ she will fight Bruce Beresford-Redman for custody.

Carla Ferreira-Burgos tells TMZ, "I don't think someone suspected of killing their mother should be in charge of the kids."

As we first reported, the former "Survivor" producer is back in L.A. and will seek to regain custody of his two kids, even though he's still considered a "person of interest" in the murder of his wife.

If Mexican authorities haven't even charged him with anything after all this time, then why shouldn't he be able to have custody of his own kids?

He's not charged, not convicted, and apparently there is NO PROOF that he killed his wife other than heresay (fighting, affair) and speculation (of course he did it!).

Give the man his kids unless and until he is convicted of a crime.

I DO question how he got back into the U.S., however. In MI, we can get "enhanced" driver's licenses that indicate our citizenship for travel to/from Canada. I wonder if CA has the same kind of thing and he used that instead of his passport.

yeah. A person suspected of killing their mother shouldn't have custody of the kids. Just because you have a biological connection to a child doesn't give you a right to be their parent. But the court system sees this otherwise. Anyone following this case it is apparent who killed her. His story never added up, she never left the hotel grounds as he claimed, witness saw him trying to hit her, he went to bed and supposedly slept that night while she was missing and reported her missing the next day, he had scratched on him (KTLA has a picture), they were seeing eating at a restaurant after he says she went missing, plus if a stranger killed her why would they hide the body. Of course much of the physical evidence was destryed by her body being dumped in a sewer. Plus Mexico is reporting that he was not given permission to leave. So why did he leave right before the DNA evidence came out? Mexicans now have the DNA evidence and they say they know who killed her. If he isn't guilty why isn't he trying to find out who killed her?
But the family courts will give the kids to him. that's how they work unless he is charged.
The Burgos family should work on the civil suit ASAP. The custody thing could be figured out after that. Of course I understand that they are afraid he will flee the country with the kids. Obviously capable.
Justice for Monica will be served some day.
LMAO..he must be hiding from the papparazi parked in front of his house now. And he is asking for 'privacy' Did he consider her privacy when he ripped her clothes off and dumped her naked body into a sewer to be found naked and decomposed??? Karma.

I sympathize with the sister but I don't know how much of a chance she has. OJ Simpson got his kids back and although I realize he was acquitted of criminal charges everyone in the country knew he killed two people one of whom was the children's mother. I think even the people on his criminal jury knew it, they just didn't care. Anyway, the civil case jurors obviously knew it.

Of course he is guilty. It is all very nice to say he is innocent until proven guilty and he is in a court of law but the facts look pretty darn bad. I believe he planned it and carried it out in Mexico because he could get away with it. I hope he is ostracized the way OJ was. I know OJ had his friends and his women, etc. but he lost the respect and won the disdain and hatred of most of society. The problem with this one is people don't seem to care as much. The poor kids - he shouldn't have them that is for sure and neither should his parents. They raised him and that is good enough reason not to give them another chance. The problem is the courts in the US have absolutely no common sense when it comes to family law. Look at OJ - they gave him the kids. Sure he was found not guilty but that was a joke and they found him guilty in the civil courts. And see how it turned out with his daughter. I really am hoping this guy doesn't get off scott free from murdering his wife.
