Stevie Wonder Pays a Visit to Michael Jackson

6/2/2010 4:45 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Michael Jackson had some unexpected company drop by this weekend -- a surprise visit from his close friend Stevie Wonder.

0601_stevie_wonder_holly_terrace_getty_NPG

TMZ has confirmed that the singer and three of his children stopped by Michael's tomb at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, CA this weekend to pay their respects.

According to Stevie's rep, Wonder and his kids had gone to the cemetery to visit Stevie's dearly departed mother -- but Stevie's children insisted they visit MJ too.

Wonder and MJ were famously close -- and at MJ's memorial last year, Stevie told the crowd he often let Michael know how much he loved him ... and was "at peace with that."

LOL @13

16, some of us can just as easily beg that just once a story about MJ be written that didn't attract hoardes of blind, rabid fans. He was sleeping with little boys. Being a brilliant performer who was tragic and charming doesn't change that. It was tragic for everyone involved, especially the kids, but there it is.

- Even though he was acquitted, people will go to their graves believing that Michael Jackson is a pedophile. It's interesting how the justice system seems to be fair only when it convicts the people we want convicted.

But that's another column.

Many have joked about Michael's appearance stating that he was a black man, and he is now a white woman, but they fail to look at the deeper issues surrounding his shocking change in appearance. True, it is difficult to look at him, but I have concluded that people don't like to look into the face of Michael Jackson because they see themselves.

They see the disfiguration that is caused when hatred, bigotry, prejudice and ignorance take precedence over humanity, brotherhood, tolerance and education. Michael represents the part of America to whom the red, white, and blue, represents blood, cotton and bruises. Michael's face has become a metaphor for our society.

With each nose job, each cleft in his chin, each lightening of his skin, Michael shows us just how ugly our world has become.

H. Rap Brown once said, "Racism systematically verifies itself anytime the slave can only be free by imitating his master." And that's what has happened to Michael and many other minorities (including women) who turn on their television sets or go to the movies and never see images of beauty who look like them.

Black women's full lips have always been beautiful, yet it is the lips filled with collagen that grace the covers of magazines. Racist attitudes about beauty, wealth and education have attributed to the prejudices that run rampant in our society.

It is this systematic verification of racism that has not only caused Michael's literal disfiguration, but also the figurative disfiguration of our country.

So, yes, Michael Jackson may have had plastic surgery...

But it's America that needs to change its face.

10. Stevie Wonder LOVED Michael Jackson. Wonder's performance in memoriam of Michael was marred by the fact that Wonder broke down and cried in front of an audience and could barely finish the song, due to his grief over Michael Jackson's sudden death.

As usual, the media spins the story...stating that Wonder's children were the ones who wanted to visit Michael Jackson's tomb. How would you know that TMZ? Do you have a Wonder family spy chasing behind them with a sound recorder? Were you in Holly Terrace at the time the Wonder children allegedly asked their father to visit MJ's tomb?

So sick of the negative slant regarding the media's relationship with Michael Jackson. For God's sake, have some empathy and compassion for this man, and for once, could TMZ and other media outlets publish a story without some subliminal negative connotation attached to it?

Music maestro AR Rahman is all geared up for his world tour ‘AR Rahman Jai Ho concert’. It kicks off on June 11 in New York at the famous Nassau Coliseum arena.
When Rahman was amidst rehearsals at Washington DC, he received some very special visitors - they were Michael Jackson’s elder brother Jermaine and his son, Prince Michael Jackson.
A source reveals, “Rahman was practicing for his upcoming concert at Patriot Centre and by a coincidence, Jermaine and Prince were rehearsing in an adjoining hall at the same venue. As soon as they learnt about Rahman’s presence, they decided to pay him a visit. The late pop star’s son Prince told Rahman that he loved Jai Ho. Rahman immediately extended a personal invitation to the Jackson family to attend his concert.”
Rahman, a self–confessed fan of Michael Jackson, had issued a very emotional statement following the pop legend’s untimely demise. Michael’s family, by extension, holds an equally special place in Rahman’s heart.
Elaborating on the special bond between Rahman and Michael, our source adds, “Not many people know that when Rahman won the Oscar, Michael Jackson had personally called to congratulate him and invite him for lunch where he introduced Rahman to his family and three children. The King of Pop liked the Jai Ho track so much that he had expressed a desire to work with Rahman. He had specifically liked the chord arrangement of the Oscar-winning song. Subsequently, Rahman made several trips to Los Angeles, but destiny had other plans.”
Rahman, who is currently in LA, confirms, “Yes I had a chance meeting with Jermaine Jackson in Washington DC during the time I was rehearsing there. We exchanged pleasantries.”
