Sheriff Won't Budge

in Charlie Sheen Plea

6/12/2010 10:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Charlie Sheen is going to have a hard time nabbing the plea deal he thought he was getting, because we've learned the sheriff ain't budging ... and Charlie could end up working at a dump.

0608_charlie_sheen_EX_TMZ_01
Sources at the Pitkin County Sheriff's Department tell TMZ .. Sheriff Bob Braudis still insists he never signed off or gave permission to give Charlie work release.  We're told the Sheriff is pissed at a local reporter who wrote that Braudis confirmed that Charlie would be able to smoke during work release.  Sheriff Bob says he was misquoted.

The Sheriff, we're told, is letting the Jail Administrative Officer, Beverly Campbell, run the show.  Sources say Bev is clear -- Charlie is not eligible for work release.

If he serves time, the only way he can get out during the day is under the Useful Public Service program (UPS).  The way that works --  each day Bev gets hundreds of emails from businesses and organizations in town, including the dump, the landfill and the hospital. She decides each day where inmates eligible for UPS will go.

Theatre Aspen is on the list.  But good luck with that one.

WHATEVER

AT LEAST HE WON'T BE PARTYING WITH A THEATER GROUP. THAT WAS THE ORIGINAL IDEA FOR A "SENTENCE". IF HE'S WORKING IN A DUMP WITH GARBAGE, THAT IS WHERE HE BELONGS. BUT AFTER THREATENING SOMEONE WITH A KNIFE, ANYONE ELSE WOULD BE IN JAIL, BUT THIS JACK-ASS IS GETTING THE CELEBRITY TREATMENT.

@WHATEVER Blah, blah, blah, "BUT AFTER THREATENING SOMEONE WITH A KNIFE, ANYONE ELSE WOULD BE IN JAIL, BUT THIS JACK-ASS IS GETTING THE CELEBRITY TREATMENT."

Anyone else would be innocent until proven guilty and out on bail awaiting trial, just like Charlie is.

Get over it, dumbass.

If Charlie sneaks a cigarette at the dump, landfill or hospital there is the potential that there could be an explosion given the types of things found in both places. Oxygen tanks, methane, etc...
Just saying if you let him out have a handler watching him for cigarettes, etc...The guy is more than a few bricks short...

And WHY does Charlie get off so easy that he can work in a theatre and smoke? He has been in trouble before, making him a repeat offender. The rest of us would get much more for doing much less. If he had checked in and done his time, he would be out by now and it would be over with. WHY do these celebs think that they are above the law and get special treatment? And eye for an eye - he needs to stay in jail all day long and let the inmates beat him like he beat his wife. Maybe then he will figure it out. He did the crime, he needs to do the crime JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!!!!!!!!!!!! Charlie has been getting in trouble for years - this is not the first and I doubt it will be the last. He is a habitual offender. Give him the penalty to fit his rap sheet. Good for YOU Beverly Campbell! Stick to your guns. Remove the name SHEEN and treat him like anyone else.

So lets see. Charlie Sheen SHOT his then girlfriend Kelly Preston years ago. Charlie Sheen was violent to his first wife Denise Richards and now he has been convicted of beating his second wife. Somebody better stop this OJ Simpson wanna be before he kills a couple of people. Charlie Sheen should not be in jail? WHATEVER.............. read the facts on this creep.

#30 I agree, Brooke is the one who knows first hand what actually went on and everyone blowing it out of proportion is really crazy. Isn't this supposed to be a problem with a married couple? If she is standing by him it shows she knows the truth. AND YES I LIKE CHARLIE AND TWO AND A HALF MEN.

You threaten to kill someone, then you should serve the time. If he was not Charlie Sheen, he would be under the jail, as he should be.
Sorry Charlie!

He was offered several options, one of them was no trial and thus no jail time but a longer period of probation.
Take that option Charlie, and stay out of Colorado until the time is up.
Or hire the most flesh eating team of lawyers the earth has ever seen and make it cost Colorado a ton of money to put you in jail. Make the trial take weeks and burden the state with paying for all the things they will have to do to convict you including the normal delays and rescheduling.
Violent felony criminals are a dime a dozen and deserve the full weight of the law, this is nothing more than a publicity stunt by people who absolutely know better!

@Kelley,

First, the 1990 shooting of girlfriend Kelly Preston was determined to be accidental and no charges were ever filed. The wound to her arm was minor and only needed two stitches. So much for that one.

Second, despite Denise Richards claims of violence she never called the cops or pressed charges during their marriage, something that would substantiate her allegations. Instead she waited until she was embroiled in a bitter divorce and custody battle with him over their children, and it's only then that she claim he could be violent.

Third, Brooke is his 3rd wife not his 2nd (He married his 1rst wife Donna Peele in 1995).

Forth, he hasn't been convicted or plead guilty to the current charges. He's out on bail and awaiting trial just like anyone else would be. He's innocent until proven guilty or until he makes a formal "guilty" plea and waives his right to a trial. Neither of which has happened yet...

Well we don't have to wonder what is going on between this sheriff and the female jailer. It's painfully obvious. So much for keeping your word, huh sheriff? Driven by what's in your shorts instead.

I really think it's about time these "celebrities" start paying for their crimes and to the time anyone of us "regular" people would have to do. They always seem to get off easy. It sucks big time!!!!

gimmeabreak (or Charlie Sheen as you are better known)- I did forget all about poor Donna Peale- nice girl from Longwood that you also terrorized. She ran so fast she left skid marks. Nice of you to point out how many actual romantic failures you have had. Only proves my point further that you need help. Oh and Kelly Preston was ENGAGED to you at the time you shot her. She ran fast after your dad paid her off. nice

Charlie's just looking for the option that will be least disruptive to his life, the same as anybody else would do. Doesn't mean he's "less of a man". The jail time with theater work release probably sounded best to him, but that really doesn't qualify as work release but was just the theater trying to find something relatively constructive for him to do. Work release would be if someone was allowed to keep going to their regular job but returning to the jail at night, so they don't lose their job. So the theater proposition should really be in the community service pot, not the work release pot - competing with all the other community needs in the daily service pool. Somehow I think working at the dump or picking up highway trash or cleanup tasks in hospitals etc. will indeed take priority, as they should, since those are tasks much more needed by the community.

Charlie might decide now that the other non-jail options might be less trouble, depends on how he feels about a short "vacation" away from the usual gang, getting some physical exercise outside a gym... I doubt that the idea is too disagreeable to him, though, the biggest problem he'll run into is restricted smoking opportunities if he's physically addicted (as most but not all heavy smokers are). At this point, of course, the jail time, however spent, would have wasted less of his time than all the going back and forth on this matter.
