Gary Coleman's Ex -- Unwanted at Private Memorial

6/17/2010 10:17 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0614_gary_coleman_EX_TMZ_05Gary Coleman's closest friends are arranging a private memorial for the actor -- but TMZ has learned Gary's ex-wife and his parents will not be invited.

TMZ spoke with Kent Emmons and Anna Gray -- two of Gary's good friends whom the actor had selected to help execute his will.

We're told Emmons and Gray are organizing a private memorial for 15-20 of Gary's closest friends -- including Gary's "Diff'rent Strokes" co-star Todd Bridges.

We're told the group plans to honor Coleman with a night of "telling fun stories." The event is expected to go down in California sometime in the next few months.

As for why Shannon Price and Gary's parents won't be invited -- we're told Emmons and Gray don't feel it would be appropriate.

I just want to know where were these so-called beneficiaries,
Kent Emmons and Anna Gray for the past two years when Gary needed them. As topsy-turvy as Gary's and Shannon's relationship was, she was there with/and for him. I saw him on TV last year syaing: "I cannot live without her and she cannot live without me. I would like to get in touch with her lawyers and let them research and see in his own words what he has said about her over the years. The good and the bad. The picture taking and printing, a major faux paus on Shannon's part. she lost of supporters there.

GREED is not nice, nothing good comes from greed. I saw his so called dad shedding tears on TV...hypocrite.

RIP Gary. I really don't understand what's up with his parent's? Were they that mean? I just have a hard time thinking that... You they probably did what they thought was best at the time.. I think Gary was very bitter, I have seen him on some t.v. stuff and he was always angry... Why? I suppose he had a bad life, I don't know. But my regreats to the family......

You people are ridiculous!!! With all the screwed up things that the government and big business are doing to your lives daily, you all hide in this Gary Coleman scrap. Has he ever affected you life directlyu in any positive or negative way directly. I bet not!!! Meanwhile, you ignore what is destroying your life, big business and the government

I worked an event at chiller theatre. Gary was there. I asked for a 2 min. interview...he wanted 60 dollars. My mom said do not speak ill of t he dead. However he was charging 20 dollars for a pix of himself, to his fans. He had a great life & blew it. He was one little **** that got to big for his britches. Oh well rest in peace anyway...

It sounds like sour grapes and jealousy on the part of Ms Gray, where Shannon's attendance is concerned.

1. In the first place - Gary's parents, instead of investing his income as they were legally obligated to do, they blew thru tens of millions of dollars of his money - in effect they embezzled it. He sued them and won. He had every right to be angry towards them.
2. As far as Dennis Hopper is concerned, talk about an angry man - he (and his politics)was/were the pits!
3. As far as Gary charging for interviews and photographs - I guess you've never tried to get an autograph from a professional athlete - they charge a whole lot MORE! It is NOT unusual for celebrities to charge for autographs, interviews, and photos.

I don't agree with the decision of not inviting Gary Coleman's parents. Yes its a shame with all that went on with Gary & his parents but its time for forgiveness even though Gary isn't living any more. A parents love for their child is unconditional & they deserve the respect of saying good-bye to THEIR son.

MEANWHILE...oil is still spewing into the gulf, unemployment is still rising...the senate and congress won't extend unemployment...BUT they continue to finance the longest war in US history, against the wishes of American citizens...and NASA gets tens of millions...and 90% are getting poorer by the day...except the 1%, OF COARSE, that controls the wealth and power in America
but, LET'S FOCUS ON SOME DEAD NOBODY!

-well ,im very young and i think that if i died i would want everyone to be there. No matter who it is or where you come from or how inappropriate it would be. Its a time for everyone to come together and show how much they loved someone that passed away. Your parents are the most precious thing! they should be number one on the list ,even if you left this earth on bad terms with them. They gave you life and support they should be first.as for the miss "ex" if she still loves him she should be along side of his parents supporting them and mouring with them! show some respect and support!

To Kevin, number 7, comments, page one. Hey Kevin, say we all put you in charge of who we people grieve for most and who we should let rot where they drop...maybe the next time you pass a cemetary and you see a graveside service, why don't you drive up with a megaphone and just say to the grief stricken your exact words written, of course drop any Gary Coleman references. You make a lot of sense, people that grieve and feel something should check your importance list before they waste your time and comment on unimportant folks like the likes of what's his name, Gary Coleman? And honestly, I hope he's not resting, I hope he's up and around and having a good ole time with God. No hard feelings Kevin, we all make mistakes before we learn...
