I knew someone who had horrible pain and went to the ER several times to get help over a 2 month period. EACH time, was told she was just trying to get pain pills and to go home and call her regular doctor. She told them she didn't HAVE a regular doctor because she'd lost her job in another town and had just moved in with a family member. She did call around to find a doctor but once they heard she didn't have insurance, she was told the doc couldn't see her.

The last time she was at the ER, the doc told her, "Even if you're bleeding, you'll never get a pain pill from here. Give it up." She did give up trying to get help and just stayed home, crying from the pain.

A few weeks later, she began hallucinating and was taken to that same ER by an ambulance. This time, they took blood tests and it was determined she had leukemia.

She went through chemo, etc and was told she needed a blood marrow transplant. A perfect match was found but it was too late. Her doctors were frustrated because she would have had a better chance if she had been diagnosed earlier.

What does this have to do with Lilo? It's people like HER that makes doctors suspicious when "regular" people try to get help with their pain. What the hell is Lohan doing with such a heavy-duty painkiller??

(BTW, before anyone jumps on me, I was away from the summer when my friend was sick and didn't know about it until after she was diagnosed).

Well I was 22 when I got sober. I am 47 now. The West Hollywood Cops thought I was dead because they saw blood all over the car. The pops were not then and there was no TMZ.

As far as I am concerned She is getting off lightly for her offenses. If she were here in VA she would be doing more than 90 days. It is automatic 6 months or longer for a second DUI, and 90 days for probation violation alone, then the drug charges are another 6 to 12 months. So now you have actual prison time on your hands. She is not "SPECIAL" just because she lives in Hollywood. She is just a spoiled little rich girl who has taken life for granted and she needs to grow up and think about the consequences of her actions. "CHOICES" HAVE "CONSEQUENCES" She needs to make better ones. Maybe this is her wake up call. Her rock bottom.

as if. and her great parents probably got her started on them . she does need rehab, but she doesn't ever go through with it, she def. needs jail, that may scare her into thinking about stopping, and the doctor should help get her off this **** too!! another doctor involved of course, so maybe she should sue him while she's at it!

When I became a licensed pharmacy tech in the 90's Dilaudid was use for cancer patient and other terminal illness. Now doctors give it out like its M&M's. Adderall is used for ADHD. Some doctors I guess are willing to practice shady prescribing practices for a little extra cash. I had extensive oral surgery & I got Vicodin

Completely agree with comment #8.

Any doctor who prescribes dilaudid to a patient with substance abuse issues should have their medical license suspended. She needs to have her "condition" requiring dilaudid re-evaluated but the rehab facility will see to that.

I was wondering why she hadn't prepared a better statement for her court appearance and now we know. Spaced out on medication that isn't medically necessary and she gave more thought to sending secret messages with her manicure and hands. What an immature, remorseless, irresponsible little twit.

This seems to be a LONG TERM PROBLEM. Yes the mix of drugs are highly dangerous even without the Dilaudid. In my opinion she needs to spend some time in a Pysch ward, get detoxed and then get diagnosed. For sure she is an addict. Problem is that these high end rehab's let you use your phone, computer, at will. They then put you on a bundle of meds. She has all the signs of borderline and most meds don't work and only make things worse. It is the dialectal behaviour therapy that does help. This is when her REAL friends and family, assistants should step up to the plate and explain to the Drs. her behaviour. Her cutting etc... all point to borderline which is serious. The rate of suicide is high, but she she CAN GET WELL with therapy and little or no drugs. If she refuses then jail is the only answer until she wakes up and asks for the help. No matter what she needs a full psych work-up.

The doctor that is prescribing Dilaudid this long after her oral surgery needs to be investigated, and all of his patient records looked over.

@ Comment #115: "My bet is that she is Bi polar and that is a physical problem caused by an inbalance in brain chemestry. It takes very careful diagnostics and is hard to correct. The drugs involved are difficult and have harsh side effects. If I am right then no amount of jail or rehab will correct her problem and will just make it worse. Until she is properly diagnosed all the jail and rehab is not punishment it is torture."

LiLo or friend of LiLo, No one is questioning the anti-depressants. I wont even question the often sedating effect of Trazadone, but here in the Court of Public Opinion, Dilaudid is her downer and Adderall is her upper.

When someone with a brain disorder [mental illness] has a substance abuse problem it's called dual diagnosis and it's treatable. Having either or both problems is not an excuse or get out of jail free card. Jail *and* rehab are exactly where she needs to be. Ordinarily I'd just say rehab but she has consistently thumbed her nose at the judicial system.

Dilaudid???? for dental pain??? - you have got to be KIDDING ME...Diludid is a major, major drug, mostly used in hospital for severe pain - like post surgery or patients with cancer/tumor pain. Definitely not indicated for dental pain, and definitely not for long term use.
She is a pill-popper, addict. PLUS, Adderall.......please.
