Derek Fisher Courted by Miami Heat

7/9/2010 9:15 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The Miami Heat aren't done hunting for talent -- TMZ has learned LeBron James' new team is in hot pursuit of Los Angeles Lakers superstar Derek Fisher.

Well-placed NBA sources tell TMZ ... Fisher -- who has 5 championship rings -- has been contacted by several members of the Heat organization including multiple players.

We're told Fisher -- who is a free agent -- is slated to be in Miami tomorrow to hear a pitch from Miami Heat President Pat Riley.

It's been reported that Fisher already has an offer on the table from the Lakers -- but it ain't exactly a killer deal. We'll see if  the Heat have enough cash left to bring the Fish to South Beach.

Derek Fisher is one of the most underrated players in the NBA. I watched for years as this man crushed my dreams, and the dreams of all Portland Trail Blazers fans.

Watch out if him and Lebron get together.
Fisher can hit a 3 like none other I've seen in the game.

What is with the hate on Derek Fisher, he is one of the greatest clutch shooters in the history of the NBA post-seaon. I personally think he should be a hall of famer. Go back to anyone of the Lakers recent 5 titles and see just how deadly he is in the fourth quarter then come back and say he isnt a superstar.

He does have a clutch shot, but there must be a reason why the Lakers are giving him a low offer. If they thought he could hurt him thay would simply pay the man and keep from going to Miami.

tip top

Derek Fisher is definitely a superstar! Many games & championships were won due to his input. No ONE player wins a game & Derk is definitely a needed player. ANY team will be lucky to have him.

It takes depth, at least 8 players to win a championship. In addition to the Big Three, signing Mike Miller, who will go back to shooting jump shots, would be huge. But they still need a center, they still need bench players, they still need people who can defend. The Lakers had the Super Team in 2004 -- Payton, Malon, Shaq, Kobe - and got swept by Detroit. No one is handing out awards. This is a huge amount of talent and money in three players, but the Lakers made two amazing pick ups in the 2nd round - two former lottery contendors - and Steve Blake could blossom at the point, a better shooter, ball handler and passer than Fisher. With a healthy Bynum, Miami will still have to beat Lakers.

Nice strategic move by Riley! Divide and Conquer....
Riley knows that the East Conf. is in the bag but how can they win the whole enchilada? By recruiting Fish, First they can create havoc inside the Lakers, since Brown is a free agent and will leave, second, they have a seasoned player who can mentor the Heat newbies, third, Fish knows Phil's strategies, habits and idiosyncrasies and he can pass these to the Heat. Fourth, he can still shoot those 3 point shots when needed.

I realize you all deal in Perez Hilton more than sports, but Derek Fisher is a role-player. It's inappropriate to call him an all-star. Star you could say, generically. Also the Miami Heat are getting max contracts for their big three, so I'm guessing that leaves nothing but league minimum salaries.

Please.... don't.... joke about that....

I don't think they can afford him, nor do I think Fisher would betray the Lakers especially in a time like this.
