John Daly -- Finally Crashes After Killer Round

7/15/2010 5:35 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

John Daly literally put every ounce of energy into his unbelievably dominant first round performance at the British Open today ... cause right when he got home, dude immediately passed the hell out.

TMZ spoke with Daly's girlfriend who told us after the round ... she ran out to pick up some dinner ... and returned to find Daly racked out on the couch ... catching some well deserved shut eye.

We're told Daly -- who's battled drug and alcohol abuse throughout his career -- did have a Bloody Mary before he played this morning ... but it was of the virgin variety. He went on to play one of the best rounds of his life ... tied for third place ... one stroke ahead of Tiger Woods.

Daly will be up in just a few hours to play round two -- we'll see if the power nap will help out his game.

I really like John Daly and would like to see him on top again. But I gotta say to TMZ, anyone who knows anything about John Daly's performances in golf tournaments knows that he quite often comes out of the gate way ahead of most of the pack and then quite famously blows it all to hell, usually after losing his composure.

Good luck, John, but to TMZ, there's no story here.

Electrizipper get lost. Your hate for other players is pathetic.
Golf is not only about Mr Can't keep in his pants. Thank God we have other golfers with more personality than the pervert horndog.
BTW are you paid by the pig's pr team to post your lame comments ?

How can you be "dominant" if you aren't even leading. It was a good round. It was definitely not dominant.

Go for it, John.

I've always loved John Daly, he's my favorite I've been following his career for years. I had the pleasure of seeing him play once in a major tournament and it was awesome. He was so nice to the crowd and didn't act stuck up or above everyone else like Tiger did. I'm happy to see him doing well. And oh my god can that man hit the heck out of the ball.
