Paris Hilton

Busted for Pot

... Again

7/17/2010 4:42 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Paris Hilton was detained at a private airport on the French Island of Corsica after authorities discovered she had pot in her purse, this according to the AFP.

Hilton was found to have less than a gram of pot and was released shortly thereafter.

If any of this sounds familiar, that's because it is -- Paris was held briefly for the same thing two weeks ago while watching the World Cup in South Africa. Cops let Paris skate after they decided it was her friend who had the weed.

Looks like Paris is gonna need another friend.

UPDATE: For her part, Paris tweeted the following: "So sick of people making up rumors about me. The latest one about me is completely false too. Don't believe what you read. Silly nonsense." A few hours later, she tweeted a photo of herself ... on a jet ski.

Well, now I feel like an aas for saying that she seems to have cleaned up her act since her stint in jail. Not that smoking pot is anything close to the worst offense you can do, and I honestly feel like it should be legalized, but she should have been smarter than to try and sneak it through the airport like that. I agree with others, France can keep her, one less self-indulgent attention whore for us to deal with.

Marijuana is far less dangerous than alcohol or tobacco. Around 50,000 people die each year from alcohol poisoning. Similarly, more than 400,000 deaths each year are attributed to tobacco smoking. By comparison, marijuana is nontoxic and cannot cause death by overdose. According to the prestigious European medical journal, The Lancet, "The smoking of cannabis, even long-term, is not harmful to health. ... It would be reasonable to judge cannabis as less of a threat ... than alcohol or tobacco."

Just a thought. Would have been a good TMZ Live question :)

Paris has a criminal record and is traveling internationally. Do the French have any restrictions on this that would escalate the severity of her crime if she didn't fill out the necessary forms ahead of time.

A message to young republicans. Read a ****ing book, try to get into the shoes of other cultures and people who don't look like you and stop talking about the "obama deception". Your belief system and narrative puts you on the top of the food chain as if your big ideas have generated wealth. As if it wasn't on the backs of the millions of impoverished "third-world" people on which you danced. Your circuitous logic may fool some of my fat television watching brothers and sisters but the thinkers and alphas are out there and we see you. Be ashamed you self-serving ****s - cover up your Milton Friedman tattoo...

Right Warren ... inhaling any kind of smoke into your lungs is not dangerous to your health. Whew. If you ask most drug addicts today they will tell you they started using pot first ... or cigs... booze.. .pot... etc. etc. etc. .. onward and upwardss they went... only to find themselves either in jail, prison, hospital or on a morgue slab. Some have recovered ... which is another choice .. but to say smoking pot is not harmful is like saying it is ok to run down a freeway but just make sure you don't get hit by a car.

Idiot!

Smooth move, Wonky; please continue to prove to the world how idiotic & braindead you are. My question is, how many times are countries going to fall for Wonky McValtrex's lie "it was my friend who had it"? SHE'S CARRYING WEED IN HER PURSE; IT'S HERS!!!! How stupid do you have to be to fall for something like that.

Wonky, please visit Turkey or the Muslim world & pull this. You pampered poodle ass would be in jail for 900 years. Come to think of it, Turkey is an awesome country to visit; go now, Wonky!

Ernie, Myth: Marijuana is More Damaging to the Lungs Than Tobacco. Marijuana smokers are at a high risk of developing lung cancer, bronchitis, and emphysema.

Fact: Moderate smoking of marijuana appears to pose minimal danger to the lungs. Like tobacco smoke, marijuana smoke contains a number of irritants and carcinogens. But marijuana users typically smoke much less often than tobacco smokers, and over time, inhale much less smoke. As a result, the risk of serious lung damage should be lower in marijuana smokers. There have been no reports of lung cancer related solely to marijuana, and in a large study presented to the American Thoracic Society in 2006, even heavy users of smoked marijuana were found not to have any increased risk of lung cancer. Unlike heavy tobacco smokers, heavy marijuana smokers exhibit no obstruction of the lung's small airway. That indicates that people will not develop emphysema from smoking marijuana.
