'Jersey Shore' Producers -- They're All Expendable

The producers of "Jersey Shore" don't want to cave to the cast's demand for more money, and are ready to cut the cord, TMZ has learned.

TMZ broke the story ... members of the cast went on strike yesterday, refusing to shoot over the weekend for Season 3.

Sources connected with 495 Productions tell TMZ the cast is ultimately hurting the show.  As one source put it, "The show is not about famous rich people with managers coming to the Shore."

495 would like to keep a few of the cast members -- notably The Situation, Snooki and Pauly D -- but they think the strike by the cast is the last straw.

We're told the cast feels like they've been tricked, because they felt their contract -- which gives each of them $10,000 an episode -- was only supposed to cover Season 2 in Miami.  They feel they're being screwed now that producers want them to go to the Shore and shoot another installment under the existing deal.

As we first reported, The Situation is being tempted with a sweet new contract and we're told it's pissed off some of the other cast as well as the crew.

Here's the rub ... Sources say MTV thinks they have "magic in a bottle" with this group and wants to keep the cast intact.

Are you guys at TMZ so obtuse that you can't see this is part of the negotiating tactics? The cast is threatening to strike, MTV is saying they are expendable. In the end they'll come to some agreement, at least for the core cast.

Honestly they aren't special, I could find them 8 other people who would be more wild and intersting. And some of them are much hotter and much younger and more educated than the Situation or Pauly D. I suppose we don't want them that smart after all we want Ronnie punching people and Snookie trying to get laid but always denied...lol

I think this show was dumb to being with. I mean they aren't entertaing. Only time I watched them was because I was recovering from an operation in bed and there wasn't anymore Dexter or True Blood episodes.

MTV can go to hell. Why don't they change the name of the channel already? It doesn't promote music and they show more commericals than any other 2 networks combined!

The tools who work at Viacom are just that - tools!

Ruined MTV, M1, VH1 etc etc etc. And they wonder why the music business died.

The way to rid ourselves of the nuisance is to use the power of the marketplace.
Do not watch the program. Boycott any products advertised on the program.
When the ratings and the revenue drop to unacceptable levels the show will go away and the jerks with it.

Dear God,
Please let Season 2 be a dud.
To reward people for being idiots is just morally wrong.
I like Pauly, but he has DJ talent and now he's famous so he doesn't need the show anymore.
Please show these people the door back to their waiter/waitress/whore jobs.

I think that if they are making season 2 into 2 season then the cast should get paid more. $10,000 an ep is very low pay and they do deserve pay. MTV is getting alot of viewers based on this cast. I wish parties could reah fair agreements without having to always take it to the press lately. If this was put out as a feeler then my response is that the show probably wouldn't be that good with new people and the ratings would go down.

Right now $10,000 per episode looks real good to me, and it should look good to a bunch of nobodies who MTV made somebodies. Pulling in $100,000+ a year, and getting the chance to have a potential acting career after the show runs it course, is a blessing these idiots just don't get. Typical of this generation, greed and wanting to be famous for nothing.
