For the first time ever -- Lil Jon took over Harvey's spot in the newsroom for tonight's episode of TMZ on TV ... and it's awesome.

In fact, dude even brought his own sippy cup ... though Jon's was a little more pimped out than Harv's chalice. Check out the preview ...

This is going to be so funny. I can't wait. To bad Harvey will miss it. Guest on TMZ ive is one thing but to take ovr on the show is different. This will be a funny change.

I think this idea is incredible. I would love to see other stars fill in for Harvey when he's not there. Keep up the good work. It must be interesting being loved and hated all at the same time.
